Works as intended, really cuts down on odors.
I purchased this for use with my Glowforge Aura (see my review on that device if interested). Complete idiot-proof setup, what more can I say about that. Plug it in and it was immediately recognized and operational. As far as the effectiveness, it is important to note that laser cutters/engravers aren't vacuum-tight devices. There is always a little space around the lid etc. where some errant fumes can and will get out. So this will not make your setup a 100% odor free environment. However, it does DRAMATICALLY cut down on smells, if you want to test it out just run the same job with and without the filter. You'll immediately notice the difference. I work mostly with wood, and while I don't find the smell of wood burning to be particularly unpleasant, the same can't be said for the rest of my family. Since having the device I have not had any more complaints. The greatly increased safety of filtering out VOCs and other harmful fumes must also be mentioned. You can vent the Glowforge Aura out a window, but in my case that cuts down on the portability of my work cart, and I like to keep it in a closet when I'm not using it, so this thing is great. Being able to keep my windows shut in the winter is obviously a big plus as well. I would recommend this filter to anyone using either an Aura or a Spark.

A Great Investment
The filter I got to accompany my Glowforge Aura is incredible and I’m so glad I added it to my order. Not only will it help my laser cutter run better but it’s designed to collect all the particles without a need for a window exhaust so I can set up in any room I prefer. Perfect for living in the city! It’s well designed and only turns on and off while the laser cutter is in use. I’m so glad Glowforge made a pairing filter that fits both aesthetically and functionally!

It’s not very effective
The filter was loud, it wasn’t very effective. I have a two story house and the aura was placed in the downstairs den. When I used the glow forge aura, it took 5+ hours to cut leather, the whole of down stairs stunk and the smell leaked to the upstairs, smell lingered for for hours.I returned the filter and placed the aura in the garage, where it has better air circulation with the garage doors open

Good Filter
Tried the glowforge aura without a filter and was a huge mistake, but this filter does a decent job filtering out smells. It does have a tiny amount that you can smell after finishing a cut but overall does a decent job at filtering the smells in even a tiny space.

A Must have with a Glowforge Aura
This works great with my Glowforge Aura, easy to set up and got right to playing with my Aura in minutes after set up.

Great tool for engraving/cutting in any room!
I got the aura with the filter and I was quite surprised at how light both units were compared to the Glowforge Pro (I also own that and it's heavy). The unboxing and setup experience is surprisingly lightning quick: you remove a few pieces of padding and foam, connect the laser assembly to the gimbal track, power the unit on, and run the setup app to connect it to your home WIFI. A lot of care went into the customer experience to get up and running with the unit as quickly as possible. Once connected, most of the registration is automatic, achieved by simply logging into your glowforge account from within the setup app. After that, just load up a design in the web-based app, and hit print, and a few moments later you'll have your design! I believe the Aura is a diode laser, vs the Pro's CO2 laser. Diode lasers are better for engraving TiO2 into tile vs CO2 lasers (too powerful), and I'm hoping to use this unit to engrave some photographs onto ceramic tile! Both the Aura and the Filter look super sleek and clean, and the app is really easy to use. Glowforge has made engraving and cutting really accessible, which is great for people who are curious about the skill but don't want to spend weeks learning to calibrate CNC laser engravers/cutters or learn really complex CNC software to make those engravings/cuttings.My son is really into thunderstorms at the moment, so we used the Magic Canvas feature of the Glowforge app to generate a small thunderstorm as a first print on the included piece of engraving material! And, he's really sensitive to loud noises, so the quiet fan noise from both units was an added bonus (the pro's internal fan is quite a bit louder than the aura and filter combined).

Solid Filtration, Some Noise, But Worth It for Indoor Use
The media could not be loaded. I’ve been using the Glowforge Craft Filter with my Aura, and overall, it does what it’s supposed to do—lets me engrave indoors without needing to vent out a window. That’s especially useful in the winter when I’d rather not have freezing air coming in.Setup was simple. The instructions were clear, and I had it up and running quickly. The filter itself is fairly compact—I have mine sitting under a standard card table, and it fits without an issue.Filtration is effective, though there’s still a bit of a burning smell while engraving, but it’s much less intense than if I were venting indoors without it. Noise-wise, it’s noticeable but not unbearable. Near the floor, it runs around 75 decibels, and standing next to the table, it’s closer to 65 decibels—about the volume of a vacuum. You’ll hear it, but it fades into the background after a while. The smell didn’t really get worse after the first 15 min and it never set off the standard airfilter I keep in the same room (it’s fairly sensitive). The biggest selling point is the convenience. Not having to set up a hose and open a window every time I use my Glowforge makes a big difference. It’s not a perfect solution, but it does what I need it to do. If you want to engrave indoors and can handle some background noise, this is a solid option!
