My 7 year old asked for something to do with science for his birthday. He loves this microscope and I was surprised how much time he spends running around the garden finding things to look at. Keeps him of the devices..

Unlike the electronic ones with a digital screen, one can see a clear perfect, UN-PIXELATED view of the item being examined. Stereo view is the only way to for for coin, crystals and general viewing. This works better than $100 mono microscopes. Glad I tried it. The super sharp focus is fast and easy to obtain and led placement is perfect. Overall durability and repeatability is excellent. I must confess that I have not tried the computer screen viewer adapter yet. Right now, it does what I need it to do right out of the box. Excellent purchase.

As advertised. Light is quite bright.

This has been a great scope for my wife’s botanical work allowing her to better identify rare plants.

Good:-has some weight and sturdiness to it despite being a "toy"-super simple to use-looks almost like the "adult" versions and the kids feel inspired (i got them a toy microscope kit with plastic tweezers and stuff, and even a 9yr old knows thats junk)Bad:-the elevation mechanism doesnt grip well so frequently when turning the height knobs, the lens doesnt move at all and you have to fiddle with it (mine could be defective)-single LED for illumination? They could have put in a few more. As a result the lighting is a bit uneven and harsh.

A good basic plastic construction binocular microscope.with some limitations. Assembled, with batteries, it weighs 21.7 ounces per my digital scale. It does NOT have any eyepiece diopter adjustment so IMO should ship with one diopter adjustable eyepiece. My vision is quite different in both eyes. Can be manually adjusted for by raising one eyepiece slightly in it's mount, which is a snug friction fit for the eyepieces as delivered.It is quite sharp optically and the light illuminates the field of view well. Much better optically than a India made all metal 20X stereo microscope I bought years ago, still offered on ebay.. Comes with two alkaline batteries for the light and while NIMH batteries can be used they must be removed for recharging. With the 10X eyepieces the actual field of view is just under 10mm in diameter so you are not going to see all of a coin or stamp in the field of view. Only a zoom binocular microscope that can go to 7X or less will have the needed very wide field of view for such use.
