Great for the price
I use a compass for Search and Rescue and help to teach navigation. This compass is a great buy for the price. It has been accurate and it has one really great feature - it has a line that extends from the numbers to the direction of travel arrow so you can line it up precisely. I would highly recommend this compass.

It does the job
This is not a high-end unit but it does what it is supposed to do. It does need to be level, etc., to operate, as people have mentioned, but dang, it's a great deal...just learn the little quirks.

Perfectly sized for camping orienteering
The compass is sturdy and should last a long time for extensive use to a camper and family.

Nice quality compass
Easy to read and use. Great price and quality compared to one I bought many years ago.

Very basic compass
It has the very basics.

Cheap junk.
Does not work. The needle does not stay level, nor does it point to North. This compass is nothing more than a toy for a kid to pretend with. Do yourself a favor, and purchase a Silva or a Suunto. Returned for a refund.

You get what you paid for. Lost
At $6.00, this is a cheap compass that you can use for minor compass courses or teaching. The wheel is smooth in rotation and the dial is easy to read but the magnet is weak. While it pointed N most of the time, there were times when it was off by over 5 degrees. At long-range map and compass use, 5 degrees will put you miles off course. The needle is also very slow to turn on its point so when you turn around, it slowly makes its way to follow. The strap is thin with a flimsy plastic connector that broke the first time I used it. Again, for quick teaching and short-distance use, it is OK but why get something that does not work for all your needs?
