Great when you need a temperature reading. Seems to work fine on meat etc, which is what I needed it for. Haven't tried it on boiling sugar or nuclear waste yet so I'm not too sure about really high temperatures. Does what it's designed for and small enough to be tucked away in even the most bijou kitchen. This is a food thermometer, not a medical one, so don't be tempted to insert the probe anywhere in your body (or anyone else's)

responds quickly to heat. used it for joints of meat and takes the guesswork out of how well you like your roast, rare , medium, well done dependant on temperature. Have also used to test temperature running hot water and it responded quickly - piece of mind for killing potential bacteria.
