1001 Buildings You Must See Before You Die

Big disappointment. I thought I'm buying a book about the most famous buildings around the world. Absolutely not a must see before I die :)

I had this book bought for me as a gift, as while I have no formal training in architecture its always a subject I have found interesting. For my level, this book is fantastic, with high quality pictures and containing, while short, very concise and insightful information about the building and its history.It terms of the buildings covered, there appears to be no bias, with a range of different styles and time periods being included from both the ancient world to today. In terms of the locations of the buildings they are from a range of countries, meaning the usual US/Europe bias isn't there which makes a nice change as well as making sure there is a huge range of diversity in the buildings looked at (however unless you have a huge travel budget seeing them all before you die is probably a bit of a push!)The only criticism I could make is that the book is small but thick, meaning its a bit uncomfortable to read without a table, so its very much a coffee table book! That said, its only a minor criticism and if you like architecture its a worthwhile and interesting read.
