I was struggling to find fermentation weights that fit the jars I have. Most of the glass weights I found were over 70mm wide and my jars had a mouth of just under 70mm. The base of these weights are 63mm with a flexible top of 75mm. The side are stiff but easily flex inwards and out again under the inside lip of my jars. They are a little pricey for what they are but you couldn’t buy 24 glass or ceramic weights for £23.

I have glass weights which often turn sideways and sink into my jars of cabbage. These looked like a better bet to force cabbage under the brine. Unfortunately, the advertised dimensions are incorrect. Assuming the 100mm version was too big for 85mm wide jars, I ordered the 82mm. They turn out to be 75mm at the top and 65mm at the bottom and leave too much space between the sides of the jar. I wondered if I had wasted my money, but found placing a glass weight on top does provide enough weight and remains stable.

Works brilliantly, but the larger (100mm) size is too large for standard wide neck mason jars (none are small enough for narrow necks).The legs are designed to fit inside the lid gasket so the cage will lift out with the lid.Much easier and cleaner than pickling weights.

I bought a pack of 12, measuring 72 millimeters across the top, and 64 millimeters across the bottom. I think these will be perfect for holding my fermented vegetables under the brine.

I use the product for fermented cucumber spears.They stop the vegetable popping out of the brine and spoiling

Fit for purpose. As described. Stiff and only good for a matching size jar.
