This thing is a gag gift for welders - test before trying to prevent eye injury
At first I thought I had hit the jackpot when ordering this helmet; attractive, cheap, and with a full screen that was solar powered seemed to good to be true. Unfortunately for me it was, as other reviews state - 1) The head brace/hinge is too shallow, making it impossible to use unless you have a posture similar to Quasimodo to be able to see your work. 2) The auto darkening feature is a joke - I thought this was a gag gift at first, I would bring the helmet down and start welding, the lens darkens immediately, but only for a fraction of a second, then turns back to the olive green setting for grinding - certainly a WTF moment from me! Once my eyes adjusted I took this helmet outside and repeated the the process using the sun, although I did not risk my eyes to getting the glare of the sun like I did during welding. I tried dialing the knobs located inside the helmet to their most sensitive settings, no change. Then I figured since it's "solar powered" I left in the sun for 1 day - nope, 2 days - nope, after three days I looked on the manual enclosed with the helmet and found that, along with broken English phrases, this has a sealed watch battery enclosed in the lens, and is not serviceable. I emailed the seller/manufacturer of this helmet and received a similar broken English response which I assume meant for me to send it back, so I did. I thought about giving it as a gag gift to a friend of mine, but then realized I wouldn't be much of a friend by doing so.

The helmet itself is great, dims down really well, very responsive and works great. The headband on the other end is TERRIBLE. Very cheap quality plastic. The size adjusting knob broke on me after just a couple of uses and it was not put under any stress or excessive force. There’s a gear or something that tighten up the strap which broke into pieces and now the helmet will not adjust and it’s stuck at the setting it was at when it broke.
