Deta 1151 Mains Powered Ionisation Smoke Alarm with 9V Battery Back Up & Integral Base

Purchased to replace an older Deta model - over 10 years old. The recommendation is to change your smoke alarm every 10 years. They are cheap enough!My older model was a Deta 1111. Fitting the replacement was relatively easy, however you will need to move some wires as this newer model has the plug as part of the base and no longer a hanging plug you can push onto the back of the smoke alarm. Initially I fitted the new base over the old base, but I didnt like it, and it didnt fully support the base when pushing the alarm unit onto it.It's easy enough to to fit, but when replacing an older model with a hanging plug arrangement, you will need to wire into the new base. All the wires are clearly marked.Lastly, this is no longer a twist and turn style to remove, you have to line up the triangle symbol and push on. Easy enough when you know!Good luck...... change your smoke alarms every 10 years and check regularly by pressing test.

Bought as a replacement for my exisitng alarm so didnt have to install - i just plugged the top in and job done!

Bought this to replace a faulty Deta 1111 alarm which has now been discontinued . Initially thought I’d have to rewire the house wiring into the new 1151 base but turns out you don’t have to and can simply connect up the new alarm using the old connector and attach to the existing baseplate making it a 5 minute job. Fingers crossed this one lasts longer than the old one!!

Arrived quickly and works with other units

I have 8 of these installed in my home. They constantly present false alarms, necessitating full replacement which is costly. Support from the manufacturer is dreadful, they don't even reply to emails. The same problem has happened to my neighbours, as I am in a new estate and this was the smoke alarm model installed in all houses.

Battery only lasts a year and is very fiddly to replace owing to poor design.

We already have 2 of these so we knew that they are great products. They do the job!With this one we a had an issue but it was sorted out promptly by Amazon and the company that sell them, MCD electrical. Great customer service.
