Clue World Of Harry Potter

Came with all of the components, and is in perfect condition!

I have a daughter who is 9 and read all the books, seen the movies, we do random harry potter trivia every now and then in car. I picked this up for Christmas this last year and we play this at least once a week. This is like the standard clue game but for kids into harry potter it has a few interesting twists. The Flew powder network allows people to move from room to rooms making guesses, the spinning wheels that open/close doors and the flew network adds a nice twist, and there are enough good and evil characters to have kids playing for hours. My daughter wasnt interested in the standard clue but with harry potter she is engaged.The main reason I like this is because it really opens up a new world of games for kids into harry potter. Instead of mindlessly tapping the "a button" on a video game to kill voldermort, they have to use critical thinking skills, and learn a very logical process to solve a problem.

I bought this game to play with my nieces (ages 10-16) who love Harry Potter. I grew up playing Clue and since I also am a big HP fan, this was a perfect game combination! The dials on the board game add a great touch, closing doorways & extinguishing fires in the Floo Network. This is a wonderful, fun game for any board game enthusiast but especially so for the Harry Potter fans!!

Prior to owning the 2011 Clue World of Harry Potter edition, I was/am an owner of 2008 Clue Harry Potter Edition.The 2008 version is sometimes challenging because the playing board is designed to look like The Marauder's Map -- that is, brown lettering and figures on a light parchment color. This means there's a certain beige-like blandness to the color scheme, which is sometimes hard to read quickly and easily. In this new 2011 version, the playing board is very colorful, and eliminates that problem.The 2008 version has a large number of smaller squares on which the players move between the "rooms", similar to the more traditional and original Clue playing boards. However, the 2011 version has made fewer and much larger squares on which to move. Presumably this was done to make the game easier to play for younger people; I'm not convinced of the value of this change to the game board.In the 2008 version, you get House Points (HP) tokens, which you lose throughout the game, usually as the result of the actions of The Dark Mark card, and if you lose all of your HP tokens then you're out of the game. This lends a certain urgency to the game -- that is, solve the mystery before you run out of HP tokens. In the 2011 version, you get instead Floo Powder (FP) tokens; you similarly lose them throughout the game, but each can also be traded in for a trip via the Floo Network to teleport you from your current "room" with an active fireplace into any of 7 "rooms" (out of 9 total) with fireplaces. It must be noted that in the 2011 version, if you run out of FP tokens, you continue to play normally (your character just can't use the Floo Network, and must walk everywhere).I liked the 2008 version when it came out, because of it novelty. I like this new 2011 version, but not quite as well, if only because it lacks that novelty (being a retooling of the existing 2008 game).
