Dependable external data storage
Always go with this brand for dependability. Tried cheaper ones and they just don't work as advertised and crash often. These SanDisks don't do that.

It will make a windows 7 system image
So far so good. I got this to backup my windows 7 pro laptop computer. I have tried some other drives and they won't make a disk image, this one will. I'm putting this in the reviews because when you ask "Rufus" it doesn't seem to come up with an answer, now it can. Support is kind of a joke. I tried to ask if the drive could support a windows 7 system image and the response was to log in to get the answer, couldn't do that for what ever reason I'm not sure. I asked "Rufus" for a SSD drive that would make a windows 7 system image and it showed me a list of drives that were compatible so I purchased this SanDisk SSD drive. When I got the new drive I tried to register it and the registration page said the information was incorrect and wouldn't let me register the drive, I know it was correct because it displayed correctly on the page. I was able to call and got someone from India that was hard to understand and after sending my proof of purchase and a picture of the front and back of the drive I think I got it registered, maybe. Hope I don't need to get further support because it may not be easy to do.

Buy at your own risk (IF you have a PC in the home, you're good.)
I currently have a 500GB Samsung drive which I have used for years with zero issue. I am an editor and have assets in excess of 1.5 TB. I looked into pricing and this was the most affordable. Many 2TB+ HD are in the hundreds. This drive was cost effective for me.Once I got it, I began transferring files to it. All the while, examining and taking inventory of what assets I had. This was transitions, audio, video and special FX. This took me 4 days and I wasn't finished when the unthinkable happened. In fact, was about 75% done.I ejected the Samsung with zero issue. When I ejected the SanDisk, it gave an error that it was in the process of doing something. I waited. Tried again. Same error. I didn't have time for this so I removed it manually. (Note: I have done this in the past as I'm sure anyone who reads this has done, without any issue.)I digress. I plugged it back in. Nothing. Restarted my Mac. Nothing. Plugged in my other drive. It was found. Looked in Apple Configurator. Nothing. I looked on-line for what people did. One reviewer on here said that they had to hook it up to a PC and do a repair. My wife is a PC person, thank god! Plugged it in and after about 10 min, it said no error found and was good to go. When I plugged it into my Mac, it was found as if there was never an issue in the first place.I will use this drive, but in the meantime I will be on the lookout for a more robust and trustworthy drive. Even if I have to pay $1000. It would be more reliable than this.I have tens of thousands of assets on it. I cannot let it die on me and lose all my files! Granted, I can redownload them and do the process all over again. But I'm not getting paid to do that!*** If you're a Mac user, make sure you have a PC to link it up to, so you can do a repair on it.**I do not know if the same applies for Windows Parallel. Before typing this I removed the drive by ejecting it. As I was typing this, I got an alert stating it was not ejected properly.
