My young cats broke out
I used this item for the second time today when taken my young cats that I had adopted from Battersea Dogs and Cats home to the vets. Whilst I was driving, Simba, the male, easily managed to pull the flap back, forcing the lip of the plastic on the igloo to bend, and break out of his cage!I immediately pulled over and secured the flap. Minutes later he did it again! His sister Nala who was watching, then also tried to break out, but luckily couldn't figure it in time. What an absolutely nightmare. The item is not fit for purpose. Yes it looks lovely, but I value my Cats safety more than anything, and I would not recommend you purchase this item, not until they have re-designed the flap, the lip, and the closing mechanism. The manufacturer said they would look into this, watch this space. They also said they have never heard this happen before, yeah right... I suppose its just my Cat who has broken out. Needless to say, I am returning both Igloos I bought.

Looks good but HUGE
I bought this for a 5 month old kitten thinking it would be a good dual purpose thing to have until he was able to go outside and didn't need a litter tray. I've returned it because, although it looks good, it is HUGE (should have looked at dimensions). Far too big and obtrusive to have in a corner of the kitchen. I definitely wouldn't use it as a carrier because of its size (very unwieldy) and although it seems good quality as a litter tray, the catches and door fastening don't seem strong enough to use as a carrier. I don't think my kitten would be able to break out but I'm sure that an older, heavier cat would make a good attempt! If you're thinking of buying look at the dimensions-I think the cat they used in the illustrations must be super sized! ~^.^~

Great solution to the alternative of having to buy and ...
Great solution to the alternative of having to buy and store a separate carry case and it contains the smell really well. We live in a central London flat and have two indoor cats who took to using this well, with filters on the top (have swapped them twice in a year) and privacy screen on the smell is kept to a minimum. We used a kitten tray to start with and moved to this after 3 months and they were able to get into the tray fine. I tried the liners twice but wouldn't recommend as get wet, smelly and heavy very quickly. I use two liners (supermarket pack for £1) instead with Catsan non clumping litter. Scooping out twice a day and changing the litter once a week. When travelling with them, I clean the tray, put a blanket in there and take off the privacy screen. There is lots of space and a secure front door. I wondered if they would be confused and use the area as a litter tray when travelling but they haven't. If we are visiting friends/family i let them out do a quick reline and litter pour and i pop them in there one at a time so they know where the tray is again. Great product!

Design could be improved
Purchased this litter box to stop our kitten kicking litter everywhere. He is not fond of the swinging door so we have had to keep it open with string. This then allows the odour to escape, combine this with no filters in the top of the box ( as he has taken to sitting on top of the igloo and pulling them out and chewing them! ) the smell is just as bad as a regular tray. I gave up replacing the filter pads as its just a waste of time and money. I would not recommend the cardboard trays that you are supposed to use with the igloo as they absorb all the urine and smell terrible. The clips on both the filter section and top are very weak. The one bonus, not as much litter on the floor!

Trusty staple that reduces odour
I have had an Igloo for 4 years and was in need of a new one. My cat loves it. I trained her without the hood on until she got used to the flap. I've used it for travelling in the car but not to carry long distances as its not the lightest carrier with a cat in it and is wider than the standard cat carrier. You do need to make sure the push down clips are really secure if you have an aggressive cat.I love the cardboard tray's as they soak up any excess and the filters really help with reducing odour. They're key to keep changing the filters and trays for cleanliness and smell. This new model was reasonably priced and came with the trays and filters. Delivery was quite quick and the box/contents wasn't damaged on arrival. Some suppliers claim the cardboard tray's are Igloo branded but are actually cheap fakes so I was very pleased the items were legit.Would def recommend this product.

Saved our flooring!
Our cat had a standard litter tray and although she was good enough to sit in it, occasionally she would pee over the side of it and it would go all over our floor. Not so with the Igloo. It's fully enclosed so the mess stays inside. It is quite large, but this gives your cat opportunity to go all the way inside. This also keeps everything inside the Igloo and helps to contain any smells. Coupled with a good absorbent litter mix this loo is really, really good. The catches that lock the hood to the base are a bit plastic though and can be difficult to fasten without being brutal. We've broken one of ours after only a few weeks. That said, we don't use the loo as a carrier too. So it stays put.

Very disappointed
We are very disappointed with this product , it looks good but the sides are not high enough as we have often come to clean it out and found puddles outside the container , possibly could do with some kind of seal around the join. Also the catches are really quite difficult and hard to undo , generally spring off while hurting your fingers . It's a shame , just needs tweaking and it'll be a good product .

Good value for money
Its a great litter, only thing is you need the grey liners (which are worth the money) it comes with all the time because your cat will wee on the back and it seeps right through the edges (the liners last about a week and you get 5 with the Igloo). Apart from that its pretty excellent litter tray and cat carrier. There's ALOT of room for your cat in there too as I was worried with a hood my cat might feel cramped in. Good buy.
