Best Fitness and Health product.
This is the scale you want and you don't even need to buy the most expensive model. The best feature of this scale, that a lot of other scales do NOT have is that it can sync to your Apple Health data *without* needing your phone nearby. This means, you pop onto the scale, it detects who you are by your weight range and then automatically syncs via wifi to your Withings accounts which is then synced to your Apple Health data. It works absolutely perfectly and only takes seconds. If you have multiple people, no problem, it will auto recognize you based upon your weight range. If that happens to be close, you simply can lean left or right to switch to another user of the scale. I love it and it's a great reminder and tracker of your weight over time. I personally have lost over 20lbs simply by tracking my weight, which is critical if you're dieting using calorie deficit method.

Accurate with some extra stats!
Up until now, I've always had a fairly simple digital scale. Weight and that's it. This scale takes things to another level by adding in a plethora of readings AND can transmit them wirelessly to your phone. Starting with weight, the scale measures to 1/10th of a lb accuracy, which is a step up from every scale I've owned thus far that measured to 2/10th accuracy. I tried it against my old scale and another in my house and the Withings scale was within .1 of both scales. Now here's what else it can read: Body fat %, water weight, muscle weight, fat weight, bone weight. Now you might be wondering, how can a scale tell all of these things from just my feet? Well the tech is pretty cool. The scale sends an undetectable electric current up through your feet. Muscle and fat contain different amounts of water. Muscle is about 75% water, while fat is only 10% water. This electrical current travels through your body and then back down to the scale. Based on the current returned, the scale can calculate (roughly) all of those measurements. Pretty cool, huh? Now, I'm almost certain that these measurements are an approximation, so if you're looking for extreme accuracy, you might have to look at other Withings products. But for me, close is good enough as long as the weight is accurate, which it seems to be.Batteries claim to last 18 months, so we will see if that's true. The app was easy to download and the scale was easy to pair with the app. It updated almost instantly after I stepped on the scale. There's also a handful of health apps that you can pair with your Withings account so that data transfers over. For example, I have the scale paired with Fitbit and Lose It and they both receive my weight and body fat % from the scale when it syncs with the Health Mate app.Lastly, the scale itself is aesthetically pleasing. It feels and looks well built. My fiance also uses the scale and it can track her stats completely separate and private from my stats. It knows who you are when you step on the scale and will actually display your name. You can have up to 8 users with unique profiles on one scale. If you're looking to step up from your traditional digital scale, I would highly recommend this one!

Does what I want it to do
Let me start with the bad - the really bad for some. The body fat percentage reading is terrible. That said, I have found this to be true of any scale I have used. From what I understand the more muscular you are the less accurate the reading if using electrical impedance (if that is the correct term). I am 6' and 220lbs with a 34" waist. I workout 6 days a week with about 3 hours of HIIT training and around 10 hours of lower heart rate endurance work. I am fairly fit.. The scale says I am at almost 30% body fat while calipers have me at around 15%. I sink like a rock with a full breath in the water - treading water sucks. In truth, I don't really care that much and the reading can be blanked so you don't have to see body fat%. I am interested in more medically appropriate measures like blood pressure and blood tests. I would also add that body fat readings fluctuate wildly. In two days, I had readings 4% apart. Pretty sure I did not lose 9lbs of fat in a day. I blanked out the reading and use waist measurements and the like instead - the same as any other scale I have ever used. The good:Set up was a breeze. I doubt it took 5 minutes to set up everything including linking to apple health and other apps I use.It is accurate, or at least consistent. I don't really care if I am 220 or 225 as long as the readings are consistent from day to day. I am interested in the trend. That said the weight is consistent with other scales. Our last scale fluctuated almost 5 lbs on my wife in just a few minutes. That did not go over well.I have read about problems with the app but I don't use it. It simply passes data on to other apps I use. So far it has worked great. I use apple health as a portal to other apps. The Withings app had no problem connecting. I weigh myself in the morning and the information is instantly passed on to the appropriate apps that keep track of working out, steps, heart rate and so forth. Only need weight from the scale.Price may be an issue for some. For what I use this scale for I am sure I could have found something cheaper that works fine. I just did not want to do all the research and this scale was recommended by people I trust.Any issues I have with this scale are not exclusive to it. Measures such as BMI are just plain ridiculous. Every powerlifter out there is extremely obese according to the BMI index. Health is pretty individual and these kinds of readings seem to feed into paranoia as much as provide useful information. Other than weight I am not convinced scales like this provide as much useful information as the companies would like us to believe.
