A good read
I liked the story but the problem I had wasn’t with the plot, just bits and pieces where certain words or sentences didn’t make a whole lot of sense. I’m never sure if it’s the author or the translation of the book into digital format. So I definitely recommend this megalodon story with caution regarding structure.

Excruciating
I labored through half of this book until throwing in the towel. Poorly written. Unbelievable characters. Less than one star.

Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea.
Hodges delivers again on an otherwise very tired genre. He breathes some new oxygen into the story of human versus mega-shark by giving us some extremely well wrought characters and by setting up a distinct scenario that we have not encountered before. Talk about being stuck between the devil and deep blue sea!The author delivers a situation in which the protagonists have definite options for maximum survival against a relentless foe, and then he removes those options one by one, leaving the heroes (and villains) with almost nowhere to runRecommended!

Don't get too excited...especially if you are a female of the species.
I have loved books about sharks and shark attacks since I was a kid (in high school), so whenever I happen upon one I've not read...I jump in hoping to be enthralled from page one. Unfortunately, that did not happen here. The book was fairly well written and edited, but the content was extremely lame. I am not being sexist, just realistic. There are some men who should not....really NOT...try to create female characters in their books, especially if the female is a main character. This book was almost painful to read, but I gave it my best shot. I ended up rooting for the shark...no lie. There were really no likable characters...they were very flat and one-dimensional. I was actually angry at some points due to how the females were portrayed. At least the book was fairly short, so I didn't waste too much of my time. This review will probably never rise to the surface of other reviews...I have found that Amazon buries the less than stellar reviews...

This Book Itself Is More of a Disaster Than the Shark Attacks or the Volcanoes Within
Usually if I don't enjoy a book, I just let it go, but I'm just going to be honest, this one really was like pulling teeth without nova ain't for me to finish. After the initial appearance of the shark it devolves into straight out attempts at characters developement that rather than making me like anyone, made me feel like I was stuck on this island with a version of family members and their current girlfriends whom I kept hoping would get EATEN quickly so I could just return this and move on to something better.I checked it out to read about a Megalodon, what I got were, granted, nicely detailed snipers and a few general well know facts about the species, but mostly a lot of whining, cursing, and debauchry much like what I read to AVOID on public cable. Quite simply, the main characters, which we are supposed to sympathize with, particularly Rachel, are utterly annoying and unrealistic. I felt like the writer was on a female empowerment trip prattling on about how hard her life was with her father being in jail and her mother dying of cancer, and yes, I'm sorry for the spoilers, but this must be said. Women who are sexually molested at a young age typically DONT have positive views of themselves and they don't go sleeping with everyone they meet left and right as a chance incounter, and if they do become promiscuous, it's typically because their self esteem is so low they literally believe they deserve to be used like a dirty tissue and thrown away. This would be especially true if they felt guilt over their father being put in jail, which most children would, if something they told their parents led their father to do something that put him in jail. Also, if you're in the position of care taking for a very sick parent or other person on a daily basis, you can often barely keep your grades up and make one or two close friends, you don't exactly have a thriving social life or a revolving door sex life where you meet and get to know a lot of people because typically you're just focused on the person you're taking care of, or just getting through the day because it's depressing. And for crying outloud, we get it, she fiddles with her heart pendant when she's thinking or nervous don't have to tell us every other page. Every other page.Everything I've said, which sadly is more the main focus of the novel with the shark attacks being side notes almost thrown in as an after thought to candy coat the sexual escapades, is bad enough, but add in the fact that in flash backs their are indications that the main characters actually had premonitions of being stranded and attacked by a massive shark, surrounded by lava, and discussed how they would hypothetically kill said shark or escape said situation just throws all remaining believability right out the door. Also, this is poorly edited, swapping character names randomly, misspellings, and sometimes sentience a that make no sense at all. If you're looking for a good shark book, do yourself a favor, go read Steve Alten's series and leave this piece of half chewed up carrion for the seagulls to pick at, because any self respecting shark or shark fan wouldn't touch it. Let's hope the writer improves with time or goes on to write trashy romance novels like this one without trying to diguise it as a shark attack thriller.

Lava, Sex, and...wait...wasn't there a shark somewhere?
I picked this up from Kindle Unlimited. As far as chompy things go, it's a pretty good one. Our shark is very, very chompy. Expect severed body parts aplenty! It did need a bit more shark, though. Now, add in lava. Lots and lots of lava doing some un-lava like things. Now, add in sex. Sex while being warmed by nearby lava (seriously). The best sex in the entire world, because these two people are the best at sex. Ever. A little oral sex after your friends get eaten. Throw in an uncomfortable flashback to some child molestation. Now a little girl/girl action.Oh wait...wasn't there a shark somewhere? So, I do wish the author had concentrated a little more on the shark, a little less on the flashbacks, and a little less on how really, really good these people were at sex (like they should give lessons). But it was an entertaining read and I did largely enjoy it.

Great adventure book with sharks, good guys, bad guys and hot lava! Insanity! what would you do?!
Where do I start? I loved this book. I'm a sucker for a good shark story and this had it all. The scariest shark, dumb people that you wanted to be eaten, great people that you rooted for, even a romance but not a sickly sweet one. Good guys, bad guys- all at the mercy of lava and a shark. Wow. I was actually kind of sad when it ended- that's how much it sucked me in. If shark stories are your thing, give this a try. I am going to check out Michael Hodges other books too!!!!
