Value for money, looks classy
Had it for a couple of months now. I put it on my bed side table right next to my pillow (less than 1meter) and it is quiet enough not to bother me sleeping. I notice it in motion but it's quite muffled. I have since put it on the carpeted floor instead and I don't notice it at all. No vibration either. I haven't used it for travel and have always plug in the AC.The quality is high. Design is smart and effective and it is very easy to put my watch in it regardless of if it is on metal bracelet or leather buckle strap. It looks smart as well with the leather like material with round window combo. I highly recommend this.

Performs winding well, but not as silent as advertised
This winder performs its function well; so far I have had no issues with it and have been glad to see my watch telling the correct time after a long night's sleep. The unit was simple to setup, although the provided power cord is not very long so it has to be placed quite close to a power outlet. The 'popper' style catch is another feature I am not quite sold on; in the long-run I can't help but think that a simple push-button latch or even velcro might be more user-friendly, but this is a purely personal opinion. As far as noise levels go, I saw from other reviews that opinions were mixed so will throw mine into the ring as well...• If you are using the unit during normal waking hours, then I would tend to agree that the noise level generated by this watch winder is minimal and probably not noticeable.• If you are used to a fair amount of background noise while sleeping, again, you probably would not notice when the motor of the unit kicks in.• If you are like me and used to complete silence when sleeping, then having this unit in the same room will be noticeable when the motor starts up.No, it is not particularly loud in an absolute sense, but compared to pure silence, it was enough to wake me from light sleep on several occasions. Perhaps a part of this is due to my using a hi-fi as an alarm clock many years ago and the sound of the watch winder motor being highly remniscent of the hi-fi circuits powering up immediately prior to blasting out music loud enough to force me out of bed to turn it down!As it is, I have re-located the watch winder to a different room, and am pleased to say that it is indeed quiet enough to no longer disturb my slumber!

A great piece of kit at a decent price.
I’m a watch enthusiast who has owned a number of winders over the years, ranging from cheap to expensive. However, they’ve all failed after just a year or two, with the exception of this manufacturer’s products. I’ve owned a very similar winder that’s still going stong after five years or so, which is why I acquired this model. It’s well-specified with a top-quality Japanese Mabuchi motor and a range of timing and programme functions.I’ve been using it on 650 turns per day (the least you can set) rotating in alternate directions for a week or so. That’s easily been sufficient to keep a watch fully wound. I’ve found similar models such as the Pouilla SE0179 will operate for about six weeks on a pair of new Duracell AA batteries. This model uses four AAs so I fully expect the battery life to be greater. Both designs can be mains-powered although you need one adaptor for each of these winders. (Two or more SE0179s can use the same adaptor and connecting power leads.)The PU leather covering isn’t my cup of tea but I can live with it.The manufacturer provides an 18-month warranty so they obviously have great faith in the product. The winder is near silent in operation but I’m not sure I’d want it on my bedside table. In conclusion, this winder does everything I want at a keen price and I have no hesitation in recommending it. I’ll provide an update in a few months’ time when I’ve had a chance to fully evaluate it and gauge the battery life.

Initially happy but it fails after 7 days
Initial thoughts are all positive. Looks good, well made and silent. The only negatives are the blue LED on the power plug being very bright at night, along with the green LED inside the front cover. This is visible through the display window. Bother can easily be dimmed or covered with electrician's tape.Unsure on the long term reliability as only had it one week.Ok so one week later I can comment on reliability. It FAILED!!!Not sure if the winder or the power plug failed. The led on the plug has con out, but the winder may have overloaded it. Nonetheless it's gone back to Amazon for a refund. Well done Amazon for a simple return process.Review down to one star from four.

Good product for the price. Impressed!
First a caveat. I've only just opened and started using this half an hour ago so while I'm impressed so far I can't yet speak to its longevity. However I've immediately noticed that it's quiet. As in "you have to put your ear next to it to tell it's on and the traffic on a road across the river 500 yards away is much much louder". Other than that it appears well engineered and designed. Your watch is held securely with a spring loaded holder and positive "cliick" in the engagement of the holder into the device. All very good! Build quality for the price is also good. Only niggle I'd have is that the battery holder rattles inside the case when the winder is turned upended which a piece of sponge on the inside of the battery cover would have prevented (Yeah picky I know but still...). Instructions are quite comprehensible. Packaging is good quality. The finish of the product punches a little bit above its price point frankly. All in all I'm pleased with this. Many thanks!
