Maya and the Robot

I gave this book five stars because it's about a girl named Maya and that is my name. I also gave five stars because she has trouble making friends at school but at the end she is reunited with everyone. (This story is vary much like mylife.🙂I am nine -years -old and I am in third grade . My name is Maya and I love the book Maya an the Robot.

My granddaughter got into the book and devoured it--there is no higher recommendation.

Cute robot/school story and I loved learning the science of Maya’s robot. The friendship struggle was done well. Enjoyed the humor of the robot too.

This book had me laughing so hard! I loved the mix of humor with real emotion that all of us who have lived through elementary and middle school will understand. What a fantastic book on STEM and growing up.

She is not in the same class as her two best friends and because of their recess schedule she hardly sees them. When she is gifted a robot from Mr. Mac she learns to get the robot up and working. Lessons in friendship and being a friend follow for Maya.I would definitely recommend this book for kids with an interest in STEM or Tech and could see some fun follow-up activities related to building a robot.Note for younger or more sensitive readers....there are references to gun violence (someone related to a character was shot and killed in the past).

Like always, Eve Ewing brings this character to life as a brilliant black girl. Enjoy!

I ordered this book because my daughter and I enjoyed Eve Ewing’s previous work (Ironheart) and we have found the same clarity, entertainment and warmth in Maya and the Robot. We read a chapter together every night and talk about it. Highly recommend!
