How well does this block out light (e.g. if room lights are on)?

It works great for blocking light. It would be great for someone who has to sleep during the day or shares a room with a night owl. Wish I'd had one of these in college!

How hard is it to change your sheets and make the bed every morning with the tent on?

Changing the sheets is easy. You can change them without removing the entire mattress from inside the tent. I don't make my bed every morning...I just zip up the tent so you can't tell if the bed is made or not, plus I have my sleeping bag inside my tent, so there is no need to make the bed.

Does this offer protection against bed bugs? The mosquito tent version is only available in twin size, and I need a queen size one

not really, not much provides protection from bed bugs. maybe treating it with premethrin or cooking the mattress with high temps, seriously bed bugs are NO joke...

I want to use this as a travel bed for my 3 year old. Is it easy to setup and take down?

It is NOT a bed. It sets up over the top of a regular twin bed but has to be under the bed's matress so I would not advise using it for travel. My adult grandson set it up for me as a permanent privacy tent for my twin bed. I wouldn't advise using it for a child. My 2 year old great grandaughter was jumping on the bed & fell into the side that I had zipped up & couldn't get out on her own.

Lifesaver

My daughter has always had severe sleep problems but from day 1 of using this her sleep has improved. After 2 months and she is sleeping from 8pm-6am. We took it on holiday and she slept through every night. Usually on holidays she only sleeps for a few hours at night. Best purchase ever.

I love this.

I love this... but... just as a bit of a warning - especially students, I have a story. I went to sleep in my tent last Wednesday while I had some "friends" staying over. Imagine my surprise when, Thursday morning, I wake up to find myself on the back of a lorry on my way to Inverness. INVERNESS. I mean, have you ever been there?!? It's so dull, they had to make up a ridiculous story about a monster in a lake.All that said, the fact that I slept through the crane lifting me out of my bedroom, in the tent, over the balcony and onto a lorry without me waking up only goes to show how comfortable this thing is.One small problem that I have with this... it seems to be methane-tight. As in, if you fart a lot and have really bad flatulence, like me, be very careful with naked flames in the morning.
