... this ring flash you do not get the images like is shown in the advertisements
I was not impressed with this ring flash you do not get the images like is shown in the advertisements. It was awkward putting it on. Once it was on the light was not evenly distributed like a ring flash should be. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

Impressive Ring Flash Results at a Value Price
When I purchased this item I was more curious than confident in this product. As a portrait photographer I use a professional ring flash that I used to compare the results that I achieved from the Ray Flash. First of all, the Ray Flash is fairly inexpensive, light weight, well constructed and has not flash tubes to worry about. It is designed to accept any brand of standard speed light flash. I tested it with a Nikon SB700 and a Yongnuo YN560-II connected to a Nikon D810. It sets up in less than 30 seconds. The connector to the Speedlight is spring loaded and connects snuggly. It also extends to accommodate taller speed lights. The center opening is large enough to accommodate any of my lenses with hoods attached. The Ray Flash is so light weight and easy to use. It allows me a lot of flexibility since no power or power pack is required compared to the studio ring flash. One disadvantage is the slower recycle time due to the limitation of your Speedlight. It produces a nice circular light with sufficient output, even when shooting on TTL. The classic ring in the eyes that you expect from a ring flash are there, but not a clearly defined as with a strobe ring flash. I used it off camera and mounted on a tripod as well as off camera and handheld. The results were impressive and allowed me to shape the light to achieve the artistic effect I was trying to achieve. The results from the Ray Flash were much better than I expected and it will be a permanent addition to my camera bag for location and outdoor shoots. I recommend this product.

Great light modifier with one flaw.
This is an excellent product. It is relatively flat so it packs away nicely. Fits my Canon 600EX-RT perfect. Ring lights create beautiful shadowless portraits and this light is no exception. The only downside is that the catch light is not round. The catch light created by this light is almost a full circle, but at the top it does not connect and instead the two ends to up. Great and compact light modifier, but not perfect.

Will Break
Very poor build quality. With little pressure the top clip will snap leaving this unusable. Stick with another brand or the other model that has the better flash grip.

Three Stars
Didn't create true shadowless flash. Perhaps that's impossible, but it's what I was hoping for

Box was destroyed or I would have returned it.

Works well and the price is right
This well made plastic device channels the light from your flash through a ring to produce a professional looking ring flash effect. Coverage is good. Distance/power is fair. I like using it 3 to 6 feet away but even though it reduces flash output a bit, I still find that it works great at 10 to 15. Catch lights are not perfectly round, due to the way the Ray Flash 2 channels light in a non circular pattern ( the light transmitting elements inside the ring are more toilet seat shaped) but the reflective interior of the ring spreads the light evenly enough to create the trademark fine edge shadow / halo effect ring flashes are known for. Overall, I like this device. It works well, it seems fairly study, and is priced fairly. Most important, it gets you the capability to produce this effect for much less $$$ than a dedicated circular flash unit.

Pretty good for the $$$!
I'm still practicing with this item and deciding. So far so good, though! It appears to flash really well! I was hesitant because there's no electronics on it. I'm just wanting to edit my pics and make sure the flash doesn't fall off at the bottom. I've had experience with the round softbox,

Uneven, non-ring lighting. Pretty awful and useless, really

Very good !!
Straight out of the box, dropped it on my flash and camera and took two shots, increased the ev+1 and perfect shot every time.Great head shots of the kids, Could see how the set up could put stress on the flash and camera connection if not careful but for the money this is a great accessory to my 580EX and DSLR. Wonder if there is a holder available to keep it damage free whilst in my camera bag because it is a odd shape !

Rayflash
I have not used it enough to give a comprehensive verdict. Fairly easy to fit but ideally needs a bit of packing around the lens to keep the two concentric even after using the rubber ring supplied. Beware that it does not come into contact with the AF switch on the lens! I have only used it indoors with a flash with a guide number of 60 so the loss of flash intensity is inconsequential although I understand the loss of light could be 2 stops. Illumination quite even but I found a lot of shots had red eye - but easily removed with Photoshop. I really bought it to remove harsh background shadows in group photography. In that respect it was very successful - shadows were not eliminated but they were nicely diffuse.
