Annihilator at its best...
This is Annihilator's best album or, at least, my persoanl favorite. This band is really versatile, showing different styles and climates. From the total aggression changes to the most beautiful melodies. Fast songs, semi-ballads, hard rock, you`ll find all that here. Sometimes they sound like Overkill, sometimes Europe, sometimes like any Hard Rock band with the greatest sense of humour. These guys show here that they are not only performers, thay are complete musicians. My favorites are "Set the world on fire"(a classic), "Brain Dance" and "Snake in the grass". No matter which music style you listen to, you should get this CD and listen to a great band.PD: Check out a great version of Judas Priest's "Hell Bent for Leather".

Ottimo disco!
Altamente consigliato!

Avatara's review of Annihilator "Set the World on fire"
If you love thrash metal then chances are you've heard of Annihilator. They are a band who always release quality albums even when Jeff Waters is releasing albums on his own under the monica of Annihilator. This is their third album and it's awesome!! The album is more aggressive than it's predecessor "Never neverland" and yet it has a moving Thrash ballad "Phoenix rising. The album starts off with sounds of modern warfare and is followed by a blistering riff-fest "Set the World on fire", In Jeff's own words this was the heaviest Annihilator track at the time of it's recording! The vocal feel is more aggressive than "Alice in Hell" and "never neverland" but is as good as the above mentioned albums. It would seem that Jeff has very specific needs from his vocalists and is always conscious of quality in all aspects of the Annihilator albums. Annihilator have been plagued by a mega vocalist merry-go-round and this is a little unsettling due to the fact that as soon as you gotten used to one vocalist a new one is featured on the next album. I guess that I have always loved Jeff's guitar virtuosity and that is the saving grace of this band! I think that without Jeff Waters this band would not be nearly as brilliant, Jeff Waters is Annihilator!! The second track is called "Nozone" and is a clever pun centred around the theme of the ozone problem, it was very refreshing to know that a thrash band cared about the planet and Annihilator weren't the only band to do so. The song is a thrash classic! The third song had me thinking for a moment that Annihilator were wimping out but that is blown away by a sarcastic and bile spitting antilove song with sentiments to match once it gets going (this is also the first time where expletives are generously used) it was obvious that Jeff was putting his heart into the music. There is also a stonking version of Judas Priest's "Hell bent for leather" on this album, sweep picking included!!The album is not strictly a thrash album but is a montage of many different music styles but they are all done to a high level of excellence. Annihilator are not like Slayer,Dark angel or any other hard to the core thrash band, they blend melodies and musicallity with speed and heaviness and it is done very proficiently. Annihilator also use humour in their songs which is very refreshing and unusual. They blend Thrash, with classic heavy metal and rock seemlessly and they are head and shoulders above many of their contemporaries. Annihilator is a thinking person's band and they are spectacular!! As I have said in another review if you love thrash that is well thought out then you need to check out all there stuff!! Set the World on FireSet the World on Fire
