Product Description Owen Wilson stars in this comedy as slacker Randy Dupree, best man to his friend Carl (Matt Dillon) at his recent wedding to the beautiful Molly (Kate Hudson). As Carl and Molly settle down to married life, their newlywed bliss is rudely interrupted when Dupree reveals that he's lost his job, his house, and even his car, all because he took the time off for Carl's wedding. Crashing in their spare room, Dupree's outrageous antics soon test Carl's notions of friendship to the limit. .co.uk Review There are a lot of broad comedies about men refusing to grow up, but few have the sly bite of You, Me and Dupree. Even though Carl (Matt Dillon, Crash, There's Something About Mary) is newly married to Molly (Kate Hudson, Almost Famous, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days), when his best friend Dupree (Owen Wilson, Wedding Crashers, The Life Aquatic) ends up homeless, Carl invites Dupree into their house--in which Dupree promptly makes himself at home, culminating in setting the place on fire during lurid sex. But though he's trapped between his wife and his best friend, Carl may have bigger problems as his boss--and father-in-law--hates him and is sneakily working against his marriage. You, Me and Dupree seems at first glance to be a frat-boy farce about men being emasculated by their wives, but the well-written script, guided with a sure hand by director team Joe and Anthony Russo (who each directed episodes of the top-notch TV series Arrested Development), successfully walks a treacherous path between multi-layered characters and comic events, and is all the funnier as a result. Michael Douglas (Wonder Boys, Fatal Attraction) turns in a sharp, nasty performance as Molly's overly-possessive father. Also featuring Seth Rogen (The 40 Year Old Virgin). --Bret Fetzer

You, me and Dupree DVD
Saw this DVD in the past and remembered it for being good. Just watched it again after ordering it (fed up with disappointing DVD's), and was just as good as the first time. One of those films youcould watch yet again. Based on a married couple with a pain of a friend having to stay with them - plenty of laughs, with good acting. I didn't get bored at all during the film, unlike others. Would definately recommend!

kate hudson outshines weak script...but worth watching
I think the film succeeds due to the performances of kate hudson and her spouse and the michael douglas film the character playing dupree is good in portraying his part but the part is so poorly written that the two people involved would never sit down for man than 5 minutes with him, would the Hudson cgaracter be attracted to such an ideological figure, ideas with no emotions, more likely for them to have such a reaction he must have been emotionally engaged not on an idea level, but in terms of personal relations. The characters as presented and I'm talking about the screenplay, seems stilted, and the acting is good, and there are a few good ideas, the idea about the father in law and the way the husband is presented, but first the idea that someone is gay if he doesnt try to cuckold someone may be part of our society, but if the scenarist has this in mind he cant really understand the characters as presented, and presents Dupree as a bible thumping preacher sublimating all kinds of sexual energyshouting hectoring at the crowd, and only embarrassing us as more of a fidel castro type orator than the emotional nuances the scenarist should adopt...he sees the characters throw the Hudson character's eyes, with one of the worse commentaries ever scene on a film, so I think the screenplay needs a good editor and some thinking into the characters but the Hudson character steals the show, a she does and I know no character like Dupree who seems as presented authoritarian...another problem? the scenarist presents no connection that Dupree likes the spouse, given his philosophy and pleasent character he seems affable and decent, and seems deep centered although given the fact the Hudson character takes to him on a personal level, so why does the character tells us that he's her spouse's best friend, the movie shows us the converse, he's quite different, are the commentators watching the same movie I am they do say there is some complexity, in characters, its almost like at times they want to say something, and do,but like the best friends comment, its a simplistic rather than accurate statement, would Dupree's character like him if the father in law doesnt like him, for whatever reason? So that's what I see, a good story idea, good performances by Hudson, and Michael douglas is great as always, and even comments on parenting issues which tells us there are some complex storylines drawn up..the writing is just not there, and the Dupree character is written in a way that he imagines a religious person to be, authoritarian, the very opposite of what a religios or spiritual person should be...so there is complexity, but it doesnt quite come off...but the performers try their best!!

Loved This Film It Is Quite Meaningful
If you can get past the crudeness, You Me and Dupree is an enjoyable movie. This film has the ingredients to set it apart from the others: good story, great cast, well directed. At first I was not interested in seeing it because the previews made it appear silly, but when I watched it on TV I was quite impressed. If you are an Owen Wilson fan, this is definitely the film to watch. Not to mention Matt Dillon and Kate Hudson. They were all great and had wonderful chemistry. Also Michael Douglas, he really added to the film. The story was meaningful because it was about relationships and what people want out of them and their lives. The character played by Kate Hudson had to decide what kind of a marriage she wanted - a husband that is a stressed-out couch potato work-a-holic, or one that is truly there for her. I could relate to the Owen Wilson (Dupree) character and his desire to be true to himself. He proved to be a good friend and ultimately was the catalyst ... well, I don't want to give it all away; watch it and decide for yourself. Lots of fun and enjoyment. I wish it could be bottled and sold for every romantic comedy. Y Attar.
