The perfect pedal amp
At first sight this is a really boring amp. It's just a very nice smooth warmish sounding 'straight wire with gain' i.e. it's really, REALLY clean which you have to really, really, really drive before it breaks up. Given it's the specific break up distortion sound that most people WANT in an amp why would you want the MV50 Clean?Well first, it's clean. If you want to sound acoustic or like that Fender Blackface/Silverface clean sound then this is a slightly warmer version of that sound. But you'll need to add your favourite reverb pedal (preferably spring if you're trying to emulate a propert Blackface sound) as the MV50 has no reverb built in. Ditto tremolo if Delta Blues or Surf is your thing.Second, it's clean. If you like pedals, any kind of pedal, then putting them in front of this amp you will get the sound the pedal produces without the amp adding its own overpowering sound. Note though: this means that some overdrive/distortion pedals such as the BOSS DS-1 which rely on pushing the amp to distort as part of their sound profile don't work so well, other overdrive/distortion pedals which produce their own overdrive/distortion sound without relying on the amp such as the BOSS MD-2, work brilliantly. This is an exceptionally good pedal amp!Third, it's clean. This means it's GREAT for amp-in-a-box pedals because you get the exact amp sound they're pusing out - I heartily recommend the matching VOX Valvenergy Mystic Edge (VOX AC30), Copperhead Road (Marshall JCM800) and Cutting Edge (Mesa Boogie) pedals which all play very nicely with it, but I've also used it with the BOSS FDR-1 Fender 65 Deluxe Reverb Amp pedal to get that 60s bluesy/surfy sound.Fourth, it has a built-in attenuator unlike the other models in the MV50 range. This is important for Maddison Square Living Room players who need to keep it quiet but still have that rock on feeling! If you're playing in a pub with the world's loudest drummer behind you, crank it up without any attenuation it will cut through just fine. It won't fill Wembley Statdium though. Be realistic, it's just a 50W head amp. Be aware though it is only the advertised 50W if you play it through a 4 ohm speaker (or 2 x 8 ohm). Through a single 8 ohm speaker as is common in 1 x 12 inch cabs, it's only 25W and through a 16 ohm speaker it's only 12.5W. I play it through the recommended VOX BC112 cab which is 8 ohms, if I got another BC112 and connected them together (they have connects on the back for doing just that!), then I'd get the full 50W.People complain it has no FX loop. As it's so clean (have I mentioned it's clean yet?) it doesn't really need an FX loop as the amp doesn't really affect anything put in front of it. If you need the FX loop for direct access to the power amp, using a different pre-amp for example, then this would be a deal breaker and the MV50 clean is not for you unless you're into modding.

This Little Amp Is NOT a Toy!
As an owner of six Vox valve amplifiers, including an AC 30 c/w blue alnicos, I bought this little one out of interest thinking that it might be handy for practise in the house. Boy was I wrong... It has an amazing output and range of tones. I wired a cabinet up to run at 4ohms and the volume is definitely more than enough for a small to medium gig. More if you use the line output to feed into the PA. I would recommend this amp for to anyone who likes the crystal clear cleans Vox are renowned for plus that beautiful crunch sound which is great for so many different genres. I bought the AC version of the MV50 to compare it with the real AC. The cleans etc are pretty well matched although the tonal range isn't quite as wide but for it's size and portability, I think it is amazing and will try the other ones in the series.

Brilliant amp
Tiny, light, simple, great sound. works brilliantly for practice, stands up well to the drummer in rehearsals, even with the small BC108 speaker (which sounds great btw). Surprisingly good for small gigs too, for which I use the very good 12” vox speaker. Large gigs need it to be mic’d up, but that’s not surprising.

vox mv50
Use this a lot for guitar practice. Once set up (and it takes a bit of experimentation) it’s a great amp. Coupled with a speaker it is a great bit of kit

Amazing little amp!
The guy who runs my local jam session bought two of these with the 8" cabs... I was blown away at how clear, versatile, and lightweight they are - literally sitting in the palm of your hand! I run in through a 12" cab with an array of pedals before it; it eats pedals, no extra distortion or muddying of my required sound. The power scaling function is a great feature - on 1/100th you can merrily jam in your room, but beware the other two settings, they soon ramp up the power! For exaple half volume at 1/10th is loud enough to play over an acoustic drum kit. Buy one!! If only for a back up!!

It's excellent
This little amp is unbelievable.I used to own a vox ac 15 hand wired but I sold it when I stopped gigging.I has a little transistor amp which was good but there was something missing.I could hear what the transistor amp was trying to do but it just didn't do it .These amps definitely do it ,they sound amazing. You get all the tube warmth/clean or overdriven.Plus it's ridiculously loud. You can pick the amp up with your little finger yet turn it up and it is loud.It gets all the sound if my old vox ac 15 .You won't regret this ampJust do it .

Outstanding little bit of kit
Absurdly good! I don't know what I was expecting but not this. The sound is legit awesome, and paired with one of the little Vox cabs, SO MUCH FUN. I'm a mediocre guitarist at best, and this just brings so much joy.I tend too shy away from player-branded kit but this is genuinely superb. I have a 65 Fender Deluxe Reverb reissue (valve, not solid state) and the clean sounds on this are - well, comparable, and you don't need to crank the volume up as high. The "Brian May" sound (turn on treble boost) is a different kettle of fish. Just a lovely lovely tone, that you don't need to go too loud for.I paired this with the 8 inch Vox BC108 cab unit.
