I find this really useful. I have trees that I chopped down to using the wood for fuel. So my stove fitter told me about this and to test the wood in the boxes often. If it’s too wet I use another box or same with if the wood it too dry I leave the doors open so the moisture increases or it burns too quick making the value for money worthwhile. Push the prongs on the wood ends, it’s easy as the sharpness of the prongs is surprising and take a reading. The speed of the reading is seconds which is good. The battery life is years as I’ve not changed the batteries yet.

For an occasional use to locate or check on damp patches, then this little device is an ideal addition to any home decorator or DIY'er

Nobody likes wet wood! Do your self a favour and get this moisture meter! It’s amazing to see so much white smoke coming out of my neighbours chimneys when I burn my wood I don’t get white smoke because my wood has dried! Great purchase!

To be effective you need a good knowledge of the different types of wood to adjust the setting/reading…too complex for me.

Good little meter and easy to use. I have a damp patch in the back bedroom and the builder whom I asked to come round to fix it, insisted that it was an old stain and that there was no damp there at all. This little meter proved him wrong and he had to come back to carry out remedial work on my chimney.
