Our favourite newborn gift
This must be my 5th or 6th purchase for friends expecting their babies. For $10 more it's a USB rechargeable option and I think we're getting this as gifts from now on as the batteries run out every couple of months and while changing it isn't a huge task, it'd be so much easier to just plug in the charger

Works perfectly, and bonus it
Works great, my toddler is a bit distracted by this at first but the sounds and wave motions of the light are very soothing. It puts me to sleep!

No challenge, my favorite nighttime projector with music
Like most parents on here, this little guy was bought out of desperation while dealing with an extended sleep regression in my 2yo. Why else spend $60 on a stuffed animal with a light in it? While it was not instant magic like some of the reviews, I have zero regrets. Being my second kid, I've had a few different versions this is by far my favorite nighttime projector and music toy.Pros:The toy itself is easy to operate, the toddler can do it easily themselves. I love the brightness control and the soothing music is composed beautifully and looped perfectly so that I don't want to smash it into the wall if we have to cycle through the timer more than once. The turtle is cute and actually larger than I anticipated. The simple mechanics of 3 LEDs and 2 wavy plastic domes is ingenious and creates the most realistic underwater waves I've ever seen.Cons:The timer is too short for my willful child sometimes at bedtime. I would love to have an option of 45 minutes in addition to the 23 minutes. My kid always seems to be allllmost ready to sleep and the timer suddenly runs out and I have to back track the progress. The other con is a minor one, when one looks at the buttons from the back, the decrease in volume is on the left where most volume has the increase on the left instead. I've accidentally made it louder in the dark by accident. Super minor, but also mildly annoying. In short, Shelldon the turtle has become a staple bedtime tool and has drastically reduced middle of the night wake up longevity. My kid still wakes up due to night terrors or who knows, but instead of being up for 20 minutes or more, it's a quick resettle and they're back out in 5 minutes or less. I actually bought a second one for my eldest because it is so worth the price and they were jealous of how cool the projection was.

Best baby noise maker ever.
It really makes babies happy. There's a white noise setting /whale sounds, also a beautiful little tune you can choose from. The sea waves shine all over the whole ceiling. We had the twilight turtle for our other two boys and it lasted for about five years of using every night. They are now 11&12. We just had a new baby and I knew o wanted another one of these because even older kids like it to go to sleep. It's very soothing but our other got battery acid after so many years. I'm so happy they still sell this toy. It's amazing.

Works well, our 3 year old loves it
Hi. We bought this turtle about 4 months ago for our daughter on her 3 year birthday. She had a similar contraption that sits on a guardrail next to her bed, that will have a light and music on for 10 minutes and then go off. The problems with that is 10 minutes was not long enough for her to go to sleep, and there was also a vibrate feature that she abhorred, and she would sometimes hit that button when trying to turn it back on after the 10 minutes. This resulted in her standing in her doorway a couple of times a night waiting for us to come back and turn it back on for her because she was afraid she may turn on the vibrating feature by mistake. So we decided to purchase this turtle on the assumption that it would stay on longer, and could be in the bed with her so she could turn it on herself, which would hopefully result in her staying in bed. Nothing like coming to bed at 11pm and finding her sleeping on the floor because no one was there to turn her music back on...The turtle has worked great! She loves having it in bed with her, and it gives off enough light she can see ok around her at night (she does like to play with stuffed animals if she isn't tired). She can make the 'waves' move on the ceiling, she can turn the music on or off, and turn the volume up or down. She prefers the music over the other sounds it makes. We will sometimes go to wake her up in the morning and she will be awake already and just playing with the turtle. Also, it has kept her from getting out of bed, which has been a big plus for us.While it has worked great, it is not perfect. The other contraption on the railing played various lullabies and would rotate through them. The turtle is just some new age type music on a loop, as far as I know only one song. Some people may not appreciate the volume buttons on top of the shell for younger children, as they may turn it down or up too much inadvertently and not know how to fix it (with a 3 year old that point seems moot, she knows how to adjust it herself). 23 minutes is most likely long enough, though a bit longer like 30 would have been better. It uses 3 AA's, and how long those last depends on often it is used. It is used at least once a night, if not twice, and sometimes in the morning for us (she is good about turning it off when leaving her room). It seemed we had to replace the batteries about every 3-4 weeks. So I switched to rechargeable batteries. They may not last as long, maybe 2-3 weeks, but I always have an extra set ready to go when the ones in the turtle die (there is no low battery warning that I have seen, it seems it just doesn't light up as much, and will go off a couple of minutes after she turns it on). The other thing is it takes 3 batteries. Not sure why 3, if it is a space/size issue, it would have been nice for it to take a full set of 4, since batteries are sold in sets of 4 usually. Also, the 4th battery maybe would have gotten more use out of it before needing to be replaced. There is a brightness setting by the battery compartment, I tried adjusting that a bit to see if they batteries would last longer, but I think it's probably the 'movement' for the waves that uses the batteries up the fastest. However, she likes that feature so it's always set to that.Overall we are very happy with it, it keeps our daughter in bed at night, gives her light and music, so we have no complaints. There is some room for improvement with it, but nothing that takes away from it being useful for our purposes.
