RIP
It worked within a night.I had a feeling I had some mice (please no rats although it was my initial guess when the dog started looking around erratically at various times and tried to dig up the sofa.I think i overfilled the bait trap as one of them dragged a bit of cheese off without setting off the trap, so I suspect there were two (one who dragged off some cheese and another who went for some after the first success).Poor lil second fella (absolutely nailed, blood on trap and on floor). I suspect the first successful candidate will be RIP when I get home from work.Easy to set, easy to place. Just don't touch the pressure plate after setting!

Killed rat instantly
Very easy to set up and sensitive. Killed rat instantly. I use peanut butter as bait. Works like magic.

Very effective…
…at trapping younger rats, less so with full grown adults.I expect this is more to do with the size & height of the trigger plate & the bait pot, which is part of the base plate - essentially a larger rat can reach further with their mouths without needing to step on the trigger, so depending on the bait used, may be able to bypass the trap entirely. They’re clever buggers after all. That can’t always be said about other wildlife, as we’ve managed to also catch a field mouse (which I wonder if the Rats & put him up to it?!) & 2 birds. The instructions are clear but limited, it’s worth doing some research online before deploying traps in anger, but I can include the cliff notes here:1) rats are afraid of new things, so deploy unbaited traps for a few days where they’ve been seen.2) it’s helpful if you can identify roughly where they’re coming from to (in our case under our decking & making a bee line for a bird feeder)3) remove the food source, while this won’t make traps more effective, it will make your area less attractive & they will move on.4) to prevent bird kills, placing the trap inside a box laid on its side can provide some visual cover, although this is obviously also a new thing (see point 1). I also can’t say if it’s effective or not.5) keep your pets indoors & away from rats, rat droppings, and the traps, obviously.Larger rats are more resilient to injury, and one of our traps has disappeared, possibly attached to its victim. Haven’t seen the adults for a day or two.In summary and to not waffle on too much, from what I’ve observed, while they don’t cause instant death, they do the job pretty quickly. I’llLet you be the judge of that being humane or not.Hope this helps, I don’t like killing things, but sometimes Karma has to take a back seat.

Highly effective!
Does the job, whether medium sized rats or on the larger end. Effective mouse trap that’s easy to use! Quite sturdy too.

Needs to be bigger and stronger.
Trap didnt trap and kill the rat, when I went to the trap it was still alive next to the trap. Had to shoot it to put it out of its misery.Probably okay for mice but needs to be bigger and stronger for rats.

Works perfectly and for a reasonable price
Fantastic product, works exactly as it should. Put it down in the garden with some chocolate spread in at approx 5.15pm at 9.30pm heard a squeal and the trap has a dead rat in it.

Wouldn’t Recommend
On reading the reviews of these I had super high hopes and eagerly placed these - baited but unset so our furry pest could get used to this new product and we could work on catching him. This method worked well and so I started baiting and setting the traps live - it’s been a few days now as the bait is continuously taken but no rodents caught - bar one!Sometimes the baits taken and the traps not fired but other times the baits taken and the traps been set off but no sign of Ratatouille! I wouldn’t recommend these I’m afraid. A couple of the traps have also had issues on being able to set them live as they aren’t ‘catching’ in the mechanism and so ping off. It’s a no from me :(

Bait Tip
Works well with the right bait. I found a tip to use chewits, works a treat. Mould the chew and stick it in the bait cup.
