Q: What kind of cartridges does it use? I have dozens of the old style acreage, about 2 1/2" long. Are these the kind?

I use a convertor in all my Watermans, but my understanding is that it takes a standard length Waterman cartridge (and no generations seem to be excluded) remembering that ink, like all things, deteriorates with time. Inserting a very old Waterman cartridge would be risky for a number of reasons, and considering the price, a new cartridge would be preferable. A new, standard-length Waterman cartridge is just over 2 3/4 inches long.

Q: Does this pen come with a converter?

Hello. No it doesn't. But they're available for about $8 on Amazon, of course... It's my 4th Waterman fountain pen purchase from this "Kultur" (German for culture) line & they make great starter pens or for having an extra inked w/ a different color... Enjoy, LeRoy

it is not a top notch waterman. i have laid mine aside. nib or no nib.
