Really nice trimmer for brush
Really nice trimmer for brush - light, cuts fast, easy to keep chain tight as it stretches. Makita original battery used and lasts for ages. Cuts to 3-4" diameters even and more powerful than expected.

Beware of the chain.
The tool itself is pretty decent. I like the fact that I can use Makita LXT batteries.. One drawback is getting used to the nearly flush safety lock.Unfortunately, the chain is pretty flimsy and snapped before I was able to make a dozen cuts into soft material. Thankfully the blade guard protected me.

Buyer Beware- Mine lasted 4 days -
This product is very, very inferior. I received this pruning saw on 5/17/2025. Today ( 5/22/2025) it stopped working. I feel like any tool should last more than 4 days. I used it to trim 1" and smaller twigs from about 6 trees over the past 3 evenings after getting home from work. I have a broken should and I needed a light weight ( not heavy) chain saw. This one would be perfect ( if it only worked) . This evening at 7:30 it died. I have new batteries ( which I tried on other cordless tools and they proved to be full of power. This is a waste of my money and time. ( I can make more money but at 72 years old I cant make more time. I guess I am at the stage in my life where nothing goes right. )

Ease of use
The Makita is lightweight and easy to use. Highly recommend this for gardeners.

Not a good choice for me.
No matter how much you tighten, the chain slips. I don't feel safe with this. Also, if you want to make nice cuts when pruning larger branches, be prepared for a mangled branch. The video that is in the product description says that the chain starts slower and picks up speed which is helpful in pruning, this is NOT true with this saw. Press the trigger and it's full speed ahead. It does work with my Makita batteries well but I will be returning as I have no patience for constantly re-tightening the chain only to have it do a mediocre job.

Good power
I tried the real Makita 6 inch saw and it bogged down consatntly. This saw even with the 8 inch bar will just plow through wood the full 8 inches wide. Battery life is good too. I will consider more non makita products that use makita batteries.
