When the lights on your PC have to go out, Then disconnect your cables from your USB hard drive. THEN turn your pc back on. This is to prevent data corruption of your valuable backup. I use SLEEP mode when not operating the PC and this is the normal state of my computer.*Tip UpdateI thought I needed to apply this back up recently, and I must have been a bit wound up and became confused and couldn't apply how to use this. You really need to look at the help files with this utility AND view Youtube videos beforehand. It's me being wound up at the time it's required and NOT the utility. I now recommend viewing candidate videos and help files and type them out, keep this somewhere safe and use when required. I am a returning customer so it's not too bad a utility!* Update [23 Feb 2018]My brothers business computer has been corrupted by what seems an inability to install the Fall Creator update 1709 and has been presented and examined by tech staff and its only way to repair is to format the hard drive and reinstall Windows 10. I have given up explaining to him about having a backup policy. He's trying to backup an unstable OS, which isn't the way to go. Doesn't make me pleased to be proved correct that eventually, corruption happens to us all. If he'd had a backup as suggested, he could have been going in hours and not weeks.

I thought I'd update my backup software after installing a new drive and this looked just right.The installation auto run didn't work so I had to get it running via Windows explorer. Once running it said there was a newer version and did I want to download & install that? So obviously I did just that.Everything seemed fine during the first backup until it just froze after backing up 444GB of 650GB to a 1TB external drive. I left it for hours but nothing happened so I had to abort the backup and start from scratch, only for it to do the same thing at the same point.After that I decided to uninstall the program and the reinstall from the disk, ignoring the message to install the newer version. Everything worked fine this time and it did a full backup! It looks good, even showing how much is music, pictures, etc.I've marked it down because as backup software you need to put your complete trust in it and it wasn't very reassuring that it failed on the first two back ups. I'm also wondering what will happen if I install updates to the program.

I finally got this installed. And it works quite well! I'm happy to have a backup for my laptop. I'm backing up to an external drive, even though there's an option to backup to the cloud -- because my internet speed is glacial, especially uploading! I might take days to backup with this slow a connection.What was weird is no option to just download the software from Amazon. They sent a CD-ROM installation disk. Odd, but "whatever", I thought, but when the disk arrived, I couldn't use it to install the product! It started up, but when I clicked "Install" it couldn't find the installation file, even though the file was right where the installer said it was looking! And double-clicking on the installation file itself failed to initiate the installation! Well, that was not helpful at all. After several attempts I gave up and went online to the Acronis website, where I was able to download the installation file, and this time it installed the product, and I got it working with the product key that came with the disk. Very strange to make users go through the hassle of getting installation media through the mail that then doesn't work to install the product. In view of this, I'd recommend just going to the company website and buy it directly from them -- it will save time and hassle.

I use this to create a differential backup of my computer once a week after an initial full backup. I used to backup every day but you need a huge disc for what is a backup of around 60gb but once a week is about right for a one terrabyte disc. To create disc space I simply delete old backups. What I like is that it is so easy to restore from the backup file, just find the file you are looking for right click and open.

Acronis E il miglior programma che uso da anni, basta capirlo ed e soddisfacente poi non a scadenza.

Software valido anche se ce ne ancora da migliorare. Per esempio per fare backup dei dischi, il percorso non è abbastanza facile.
