Yes, it works
First delivery was lost in mail, 2nd shipment arrived in one week, aok... 1 star on initial delivery, 5 star on second...the product itself... 5 starEmWave2 is an experiment for me. Will it work? Can it read your mind/know you are thinking positive or negative thoughts? Will you improve over time?I have had it for just over two weeks now and the answers are yes, yes and yes.First time I had it hooked-up and started getting in the green zone, 6 month old puppy raises up and puts his front paws on the glass table I have my portable computer and emWave2 on.... bingo, EmWave2 immediately goes from green to RED.Requires limited to no training.By using the EmWave2 you surprisingly learn and catch yourself as you transition into pondering/fretting/worrying over a future unknown. Nice. Gives you a choice to rethink what you spend your time thinking about...I did have some trouble getting the computer connection... it worked perfectly the first day, had a period of time when it would not recognize the device, i rebooted the software and it is working perfectly again... so it appears the problem was mine... I am not a computer guru by anymeans....back to the product review:If you are looking into this product, it means you are already interested. How can you spend your money any better than improving yourself? This product is a BUY. Do NOT hesitate.

I bought this some time ago. Turned out EmWave ...
I bought this some time ago. Turned out EmWave doesn't measure heart rate variability at all, but some hazy concept of "balance". Also red all the four HeartMath books and i can say that the science behind this gizmo is questionable at least. There is a lot of quotes on real scientific research about the heart, but when it comes to their concept of balance, the quality of the research drops dramatically. If you really want to measure your heart rate variability and your conclusions to be valid, do not buy this product. Go for the Suunto td6, Garmin Forerunner, or Firstbeat's Bodyguard 2. If an illusion of measuring and concluding something is enough, feel free to purchase the product.

Expensive placebo?
I bought my initial emwave2 and then discovered that it continued to function even when disconnected from my ear, I observed it for over 5 minutes doing this before switching it off. I spoke to Amazon, who obligingly offered a refund as they thought that what I described indicated a fault. On the assumption that the first machine was faulty but that I had had a good relaxing experience, I bought another one (and got caught in a price rise of £5!). The second product showed the same 'fault' so I contacted Relax (the supplying company) who put me in contact with Heartmath, the US supplier to Relax. I was advised that this was not necessarily a fault, with a technical explanation of the way the machine functions. Having 2 emwaves briefly in my possession, I decided to try a second experiment. I attached one emwave to each ear and discovered that they ran wildly different results for most of the 20mins I had them attached (eg red button blinking on one whilst the green was on the other etc). As the machines were both at their factory settings and, at last check, I only had one heart, this really did seem to indicate a problem, so I wrote again to Heartmath. Essentially Heartmath gave a response that 1) as I got a benefit from the machine did it matter that it might not be accurate, 2) as the machines were not medical grade, there was no guarantee on accuracy, and 3) the only way to tell if there was a problem was to run both the machines on separate computers to compare them. Unfortunately I had to return the first machine so was unable to carry out this suggested experiment. Although placebos can work, even if you're aware that they are placebos, in my opinion it seems an awfully expensive placebo, with an overly casual attitude by the seller to these issues, however politely and thoroughly explained. So I'll be returning the second emwave.

It works... if you use it
I bought the EmWave 2 after listening to the Bulletproof podcast, which recommended it as a life-changing product. Having used it relatively frequently for a few weeks, it seems to work well, but hasn't made a huge difference. I find I lack the discipline to use it daily, which is my fault of course, but consider it like a set of weights. If you have the motivation to exercise to a schedule, which I currently don't, you'll probably find this worth the money.I don't really like the software it comes with. It's functional and pretty easy to use but all its features apart from a graph and log ("meditation" images and sounds) seem cheap and not useful. If you have multiple computers on which you install it, each will have a different record. With better software, I would probably be much more motivated to use it.Using this will get your heart rate variability control up, which will be evident from the approaching green coherence ratio. I recommend it if you are stressed but can afford 10 minutes a day of just doing nothing.

Great device, even if it only helped you meditate consistently!
I love my emwave, even though I'm still at a pretty stressed out stage in my life (dealing with anxiety and insomnia recently) and even though I haven't really been able to improve my coherence scores that much yet, I love the fact that it makes me more meditation focused, and since I've been using it, I've been meditating at least 2-3 times per day on most days. Maybe only missing one day. That's pretty great for me, as I always used to suck when it came to keeping disciplined with meditation.

The software is not brilliant but functional
Being a sceptic I was going to take a lot of persuasion to believe this little device could calm me down but I was pleasantly surprised. The software is not brilliant but functional, it also needs commitment to do it each day

whenever stressful situations appeared in my life the machine proved useless. Save your money and take up meditation
After using the Heartmath for sometime I realised it didn't actually work for me, whenever stressful situations appeared in my life the machine proved useless. Save your money and take up meditation.
