Lonely Planet Costa Rica (Travel Guide)

What a place
Wonderful book, wonderful country. Just one thing to add of help. Take the lowest US dollar dominations you can. The standard 'procedure' is to ask you to pay in US, then give you the change in Colones (the local currency), but at a very poor exchange rate. So everything costs a bit more than you are expecting. Having said that, contrary to many people's opinions, CR isn't necessarily expensive as long as you are careful what you spend your money on. Eat the local stuff, drink the local stuff, walk rather than go on the expensive trips, and use the buses. Such a beautiful country, lovely people, and quite staggeringly amazing wildlife.

Detailed and useful guide
This is a really detailed book and of the excellent standard I've come to expect from Lonely Planet. If you're only in Costa Rica for 2 weeks you wouldn't scratch the surface of this book so there is plenty in here for longer or repeat visits.

You won’t go far wrong but there is a lot more out there.
A good guide if a little condescending about more mainstream outlets. There are however so many places to chose from that you would do well to look around as well. With so much happening in Costa Rica It is a challenge to keep up to date. Some featured tours such as the Monteverde Cheese Factory have ceased.

Great guide
Used this a lot on our trip to Costa Rica both before for planning and while there. Lots of useful info on different areas and the history but even though published in Oct 2016?(and our trip Sept 2018)was already quite out of date with some details so use internet alongside this
