good in it's day
I got this for a budget gaming PC at that sweet spot on price (around sixty) when it was old generation still being sold by AMD,No it's not as good as a Ryzen with the same number of cores, but it's a good 8 core chip with what was at the time good performance.Building a system on a budget I needed to work within that budget towards the users gaming needs and this product supplied a chip he's still using today, has still not maxed out, has not needed to overclock and is being cooled to no more than 20 above room temp on max use. It's been reliable for 18 months with no issues, in fact the whole rig has although all last gen tech. You get this chip and a reliable board at a good price, throw in an old spec case, decent cooling, enough ram, a basic HDD and half decent SSD along with a competitive graphics card and unless you are hitting VR it can still play anything at good quality graphic settings.Newest isn't always best particularly when working to a budget. Sometimes older, reliable but still with a decent punch can win out. It's just a shame for anybody looking now that the sweet spot on pricing has passed and for what you can currently get these for, a Ryzen looks like the better option. As the person building the system, it was easy to install including the fan included, and has needed no maintenance from me since set up and running with a happy user

Fantastic processor, even better cooler. Would recommend on a budget.
I absolutely love this processor. It's 2017/2018 and still going strong. It's very fast, has a good amount of cores and is found at a great price. The Wraith Cooler is also of very high quality. If you really want to squeeze the most amount of power from this processor the Wraith Cooler is definetaly the way to go over the standard stock cooler by AMD.I am running this processor with one 7200rpm drive and rarely see the processor going over 50% of it's full power. It is also very good with games. GTA, Rocket League, PUBG, Overwatch, CSGO all run without a hitch. They're a lot of reviews and rumours around about the processor getting quite hot. This has not been the case for me. I am using a Lian Li case with 3 front fans to push air into the cooler and one output fan to pull air out and I find this processor stays cool all the time. I am also running the fans at 60% of their capacity. I am currently only running chrome and the temperature is hovering around 7-13 degrees Celsius which is very cool for a processor. When the processor is really being used it gets to around 30 degrees Celsius which again is very cool.Another note to mention is that although this processor has 8 LOGICAL cores. I use around 6 at most. I have seen the 7th one being used but at less that 10% of it's capacity. I would still get this over the FX6300 as with the newer generations of multi core processors being released the 7th and 8th core may come in handy in the future and the extra Ghz doesn't hurt (and yes Ghz is not a good way of choosing the best processor).Lastly I should mention that I did not overclock my fx8350 but with the temps that I am getting it should be no problem if I choose to do so. Money is tight so I don't want to experiment with overclocking.

Much better than I expected and I'm running at stock.
Bought this to run my Hyper-V environment, to offload my Ryzen 7 PC that I mainly use for gaming.Got some cheap AMD only DDR3 1600 RAM 32GB for £60, an ASROCK 970M Mobo, and wow, it runs great, SCCM server (likes 8 threads), a DC, Gateway, App server, and multiple clients, Windows 7 and 10. Admittedly all running off SSDs, but for a brand new £53 CPU with an awesome wraith cooler (Love the glowing colourful LEDs), this FX8350 exceeded my expectations, it runs my lab amazingly well. Then I thought I’d install some games, got a cheap second hand RX480 8GB and it’s surprising capable, getting about 48-60 FPS out of Fallout 76(1080p Medium, Depth of field off), Fornite and Apex Legends locked at 60 FPS (max my monitor can handle) perfect. Maybe when this launched in 2012 it didn’t shine with most games favouring single thread IPC, but now with multithreaded games the norm, it does really well. I know my Ryzen 7 is twice as fast but this is quarter the price, and 32GB of DDR4 cost me over £200 more than this CPU, RAM, Mobo and case combined. And it’s very quiet when not being taxed. No it’s not Ryzen but it’s a superb little CPU for the money.Hope you find my experience useful, and yes this is 2019, nearly 7 years after this processor was launched!

Great CPU, come issues with cooler
First off - Wraith cooler looks and feels very nice, and is certainly competent! I did find it very difficult to lock into the mobo - this may depend on your mobo brand, but really shouldn't - and ended up bending a CPU pin in the process. So yes, this is a great value CPU & cooler, but be patient while fitting it and try not to use excessive force installing the cooler.

Excellent product for the price
Bought this because I was concerned about the running temperature of my CPU ( AMD FX8320 ) getting higher than normal . Running in the high 30s when idling and over 60 on more intensive programs . It could have been the fan dying I know but ,seeing as I had a £40 Zalman Cooler , I thought why not updgrade the CPU for £27 more than a new cooler .Very pleased with the results . The CPU now runs at room temperature when idling and mid 30s on more intensive programs . The CPU is slightly faster of course . I can't say the cooler is any quieter than my last one but it's certainly not noisy .I have an Asus M5A97 LE R 2.0 motherboard , the CPU and cooler fit no problem

great cpu for am3 boards
easy to fit if you wiggle the amd bracket around , click and lock into place with lever , be patient ,replaced a Sempron 145 , the difference is night and day , disabled cool and quiet in bios so is constantly running at stock speed , using this temporarily till I decide which am4 rig I am upgrading to later in the year ! when prices come down , the cooler is absolutely stunning , worth £30 , lights up and changes colour , not my cup of tea but nice ,could of bought it £4 cheaper elsewhere , but stuck with amazon , as they have been good to me over the years , kindest regards to all ..................
