Paper road maps are, in my opinion, an essential to have in your car. Not all GPS systems can show you some of the great back roads to travel. Highway driving has become a challenge, especially in the big cities. Getting off the well traveled road and exploring the "back country" makes for a relaxing drive to your destination. And you MAY find some interesting shops and eateries along the way.
