fun thing
I bought this for my 13 year old son. It is cleverly designed and fun to play with, the magnets are strong but the plastic used to form the pyramids is disappointingly flimsy. It would be an awesome thing if it was produced in subtler/more imaginative colours and a plastic with a better and weightier feel. But you can build all kinds of shapes with it and it is sort of compulsive......

Buy the 6-colour version
I got one of these for Christmas, and it's great! I have spent hours playing with it already. But it's only fun because the pieces are five each of six different colours. (I guess six each of five colours would be just as good.) This means that you can, among other things, try the puzzle in the book: assemble it so that no face touches another of the same colour, even corner-wise. I have found two distinct symmetrical solutions. With the all-red set, this would not be possible.The little book that came with it is useless guff, apart from the puzzle quoted above. So if you come across a Ball of Whacks that has all 30 pieces but is missing the book, buy it! You won't be missing anything.
