Kalahari melon citron melon (Citrullus lanatus var. citroides) is native to Africa where it grows abundantly in the Kalahari desert. It is the ancestor of the watermelon. However unlike the water melon it is smaller in size has a hard white flesh and cannot be eaten raw. Kalahari melon powder is made from the fruit. The oil naturally contains glycosides of palmitic, stearic, oleic and linoleic acids. The high content of fatty acids gives it its high ability for the skin hydration and restructuring of the epidermis
