Ruffler Foot - Low Shank with 2 Free Packets of 5 German Sewing Machine Needles

Great fun to use once I worked out how to attach it to my machine. The instructions/drawings confused me to begin with because it is such a complex looking foot. However once it was attached and the hook placed on the needle bar correctly (similar to attaching a walking foot) I found it easy to use. Options to give a pleat/gather every stitch, every 6 stitches, every 12 stitches or none which is useful if you have a long length to sew but only parts of which are gathered. A very even result which saves time with pulling long threads and then evening the gathers out - it will be well used.

I have always been wary of this foot as it looks incredibly complicated. However after taking a deep breath and trying it out I am annoyed with myself for not buying it sooner.Take your time to get used to it and you will soon have uniform pleats and ruffles which would be difficult and time consuming to produce by hand. It comes with clear instructions to help you set it up correctly.If you want to produce frills for your home furnishing or garments with lots of ruffles and pleats, you will wonder how you got by without it.

Once set up properly the ruffler foot does a brilliant job of making ruffles. I attached 9 rows of ruffles around a long skirt in just over an hour. However before using the foot you will need to oil it - instructions include how to do this. I also needed to adjust one of the screws which had been tightened too much. This was causing the ruffler to get stuck sometimes which prevented the needle from going down properly.The German needles are colour-coded, which is very handy, but unfortunately the size 80 needles break very easily. The size 100 ones seem to be fine.

I was doubtful, going by the price, that this would work well with my Brother Innovis 4000, but I needn't have worried, it works like a dream. I would not hesitate to recommend this item to others *****

I was able to buy this with the offer or returning it, should it not fit my sewing machine. It did fit and I'm keeping it. It does just the kind of ruffles I wanted. Try it out on scrap material until you get the results you want. The seller is very helpful and very prompt with e-mail replies. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from again. You can buy with confidence. I am very pleased with my purchase. I had to check on Youtube how to fix it though, and I needed tweezers to pull the fabric under the foot, but once I set up, it came up with perfect evenly spaced ruffles and gathers.

wish I'd heard of this before very useful, need to practice a little to get used to it, but so much quicker and easier. The sewing machine needles are a very good useful extra. I have used this on my Brother AE2500 sewing machine.

It looks like a beast when you take it out of the box but once on my machine (Babylock BL8850) it worked straight away. I absolutely love it and highly recommend this foot if you do lots of gathering.
