The joy of holding a real telephone again is almost beyond ...
The joy of holding a real telephone again is almost beyond words. But in truth words are the most important thing - I can now hear them and people can hear me! I was fed up with cordless phones interacting with the wi-fi in my house (squeaky, balloon making, arm pit squelching...you know what I mean!) so this rollicking red retro gadget is a blessing. A few minor observations - the red colour of the phone is darker than the photos suggest and the coiled cord and the red phone line cord don't match (although the cords match themselves). I suspect the other colour variants will be truer. But two words for those of us that remember the real thing: The bell isn't the same as it isn't a bell - so how could it be the same? But it isn't too bad. It is loud enough IMHO though. In operation the dial must go all the way round to the stop and then click the stop (i.e. the "stop" moves) - this is the way this unit is designed. I think if you are a bit heavy handed then this stop may actually break so don't force it the way you used to in the original phones. How long will it last? No idea. But I do remember the old GPO phones weren't indestructible in my house and I really don't think this is less well built.

1960S Retro Style Desk Telephone with Rotary Dialler (RED)
Bought for my mother who has dementia and loses cordless phones which are too small, wound up in her handbag and are difficult for her to use now.I bought this product and another some time ago, to help her make calls easier, with the old fashioned dial and so that she could not put it into her handbag, lol!Problem with this product is that there are 2 additional holes in the dial making it 13 and not 11 places and this may confuse someone who has short term memory problems. The colour and quality is good but quite different to the original product/s and there would be no speakerphone of phone banking facility. I like it!Plus: She knows these phones well and took to them easily. I bought 2 red phones because red is her fave' colour and also her initials. My mum loves them.

... was looking for a phone but didn't want a boring looking digital phone
I was looking for a phone but didn't want a boring looking digital phone. This seemed to be the answer, visitors have commented on how good it looks in my home. It feels and looks great, the dial is as I remember our old home phone being. The colour is bright and eye catching. The novelty of waiting for the dial to return for the next number to be dialled is wearing a bit thin though!! If you want a statement phone then this is it. I have a long extension lead so can walk around the house while talking if I want, who needs a dull cordless phone!?

Old Phone that feels and sounds like and old phone, but you can navigate automated telephone systems
Doesn't make my ear sweaty after a long conversation, it just rings. works like an old phone, so although you can go through automated services, with it and the have added a # and * key for this purpose, but that is not why I bought it. I want a phone that sounds like a phone and never drops because I'm out of area and it sounds clear and crisp and less robotic. Also it doesn't suggest some people I might know, or try and name a movie without the letter A . There is also the fact that it can't be hacked by someone with a tablet

Does the job
Good quality and nice loud bell for those of us who's hearing isn't as good as it used to be .My only criticism is that it's not as weighty as the original models I grew up with in the 1960s / 70s but for the price it's a minor gripe & a lot cheaper than buying a vintage refurbished model .

A bit disappointing
I don't usually give bad reviews but I feel I have to with this phone im afraid. It comes excellently packaged and when you first get it out it looks great, but the main body of the phone is very light and cheap feeling, where as the handset feels the most substantial. There is a constant loudish hum on the line when dialling/talking. You have to use the dial round quite forcefully or it doesn't pick up the numbers, and the ink used on the numbers themselves seems to be smearing (it hasn't been used THAT much).I bought this phone after the old dialaround died (after many years excellent service, and it only cost £15). The only reason im not sending this back is because im damn lazy.If youre looking for a nice phone, I'd spend an extra £10 and get one from Wild & Wolf instead, theyre gorgeous.

Great fun bringing back memories of the good old days
Great fun bringing back memories of the good old days, but I don’t make calls very often on home phone so might not be practical if making lots of calls as dialling takes a lot longer and obviously only used in one place as needs to be plugged in.

Brilliant and takes me back!
Authentic and just like what we used to have.Sound is crisp and clear and the ring volume is adequate. One negative point is that the whole product feels lighter than the old ones, but it is using modern technology so expect a retro look and feel but don't expect any frills. It looks the part and does the job well!
