Old style fabulous!
Love this phone! The ringtone is the old style 'traditional' ring. The rotary keypad works very well, although you forget just how long it takes to 'dial' a number compared to modern phones keypads! The sounds quality is excellent. My only minor gripe is the wiring is on the left hand side, so it's great for a left-handed user - but it is only a very minor flaw.As most calls these days are made to/from mobiles, this is more a decorative feature, but looks great in the hall!

Pure joy to the family! !!
I don't know why people have this phone a negative review. ..it's possible that they must have received a faulty item because to me and my family this phone is simply superb. It is weighty and sturdy, we can certainly and clearly hear the other person on line and the ring tone is a pleasant old fashioned sound that gives you that pleasant feeling and you can't help but smile when it rings. My husband and children are completely in love with this phone! I love it and will truly recommend it !!! This phone has brought pure joy to the family! !!

Mother loved it!!!!!
I bought this telephone for my Mum, who was always moaning about the modern one she had. She absolutely loves it!!!Best Christmas present ever!Although not as robust as the originals were, this phone is sturdy with a loud ring - in the original style. It was easy to put together and looks just like the original design.I ordered it very much on the last minute for Christmas, but delivery was extremely prompt, arriving 2 days before the date due.

A bit disappointing
I don't usually give bad reviews but I feel I have to with this phone im afraid. It comes excellently packaged and when you first get it out it looks great, but the main body of the phone is very light and cheap feeling, where as the handset feels the most substantial. There is a constant loudish hum on the line when dialling/talking. You have to use the dial round quite forcefully or it doesn't pick up the numbers, and the ink used on the numbers themselves seems to be smearing (it hasn't been used THAT much).I bought this phone after the old dialaround died (after many years excellent service, and it only cost £15). The only reason im not sending this back is because im damn lazy.If youre looking for a nice phone, I'd spend an extra £10 and get one from Wild & Wolf instead, theyre gorgeous.

Looks great, not built to last at all.
Do =not= waste your money. I can only suspect that most reviews were left shortly after purchase. Seems great when it first arrives. We had to replace the first phone within 4 months because the incredibly flimsy volume button broke. The second phone didn't last 9 months before the volume buttom and the ringer buttons broke. The connection is poor and they just seem to go loose and retreat back into the phone like a child's milk tooth! Amazon wil, only replace the initial item under the manufacture's warranty but ignore the warranty on the replacement item in favour of the original order date so again, beware.

The joy of holding a real telephone again is almost beyond ...
The joy of holding a real telephone again is almost beyond words. But in truth words are the most important thing - I can now hear them and people can hear me! I was fed up with cordless phones interacting with the wi-fi in my house (squeaky, balloon making, arm pit squelching...you know what I mean!) so this rollicking red retro gadget is a blessing. A few minor observations - the red colour of the phone is darker than the photos suggest and the coiled cord and the red phone line cord don't match (although the cords match themselves). I suspect the other colour variants will be truer. But two words for those of us that remember the real thing: The bell isn't the same as it isn't a bell - so how could it be the same? But it isn't too bad. It is loud enough IMHO though. In operation the dial must go all the way round to the stop and then click the stop (i.e. the "stop" moves) - this is the way this unit is designed. I think if you are a bit heavy handed then this stop may actually break so don't force it the way you used to in the original phones. How long will it last? No idea. But I do remember the old GPO phones weren't indestructible in my house and I really don't think this is less well built.

Excellent bit of nostalgia
The item arrived very quickly within 2 days. It looks fantastic, has the facility to do phone banking etc so the dialing is a little different than the original 70's ones but that's to be expected for modern technology with retro chic ! I love it, it looks great, is quite weighty and the handset feels fab when you are using the phone, like a 'real' phone with a bit of substance to it. Reminds me of my youth and is admired by all my visitors. Colour is vibrant, definately my favourite purchase for ages.

Great look, Great Sound, Good Quality but...
I like almost everything about this phone, it looks fantastic, the ring tone is authentic and fun and it has all the vintage features. The only problem is that though I can hear the person I speak with very well, others say I sound very quiet. The sound settings are only quiet or loud. This controls both the ring tone and the ear piece. Even on loud my 'conversation partner' thinks I sound quiet. So, only purchase if everyone you know has good hearing...
