Fearless Helen McCrory
Helen McCrory's performance as Emma Banville, the formidable central character in "Fearless" is a tour de force in a fascinating crime thriller and exposure of political cover-ups. There is plenty of emotional vigour in the plot to which Helen McCroy's acting brings verisimiltude and conviction. With both an exciting and twisting plot, and a roller-coaster of personal story, this drama is a must-see, especially for Helen McCrory in one of her leading TV roles. Her premature death is a great loss to British acting and TV drama. As a postscript, for all McCrory fans, her role as Anna Karenina in the BBC series in 2000 is well worth seeing - the DVD is still available.

Helen McCrory plays a human rights lawyer with attitude !
This thriller has been written by Patrick Harbinson (probably best known to U.K. audiences as a scriptwriter on Homeland) as a vehicle for Helen McCrory to display her considerable talents playing a human rights lawyer. She takes on a case of a school caretaker who was convicted of the murder of a teenage girl back in 2003 and in the course of her attempts to get a retrial she stumbles across evidence that leads to a possible conspiracy involving Govt Officials and the CIA shortly before the start of the Iraq War. At the same time she is having problems in pursuing her hopes of adopting a young child in part due to the type of legal work she undertakes. The six episodes fall into two parts - the re-opening of the original murder and the links revealed to the conspiracy. The influences of Homeland are there for all fans of that show to see. Personally I could have done without the adoption strand of the storyline as it doesn't really add a great deal except as an illustration of the doubts being felt by Emma Banville (McCrory) about her future career when the going gets tough as it certainly doesMcCrory is her usual excellent self and it is good to see some newer faces alongside stalwarts Michael Gambon and Jeremy Bamber in leading roles - particular praise is due to Robin Weigert.who convinces as a CIA operative. All in all it's worth investing some time in the complexities of the case despite the occasional improbabilities of the plot.

Better if it was called Reckless!
Enjoyable and well acted although Reckless would be a better title as the leading character does such daft and dangerous thing.
