Powacycle Windsor - great first electric bike
My wife and I have both had these bikes for over 2 years and to date the original batteries are still going strong. Despite the 27-37 miles claimed we have usually settled for a recharge around the early twenty's. We have cycled hundreds if not thousands of miles in all parts of the UK including hilly Cornwall, transporting the bikes on the back of a motorhome. They have given us much pleasure in exploring off road cycle routes all over the country as well as tranport for shopping trips avoiding using the motorhome when away on site. The bikes do not have various power settings as with more expensive machines though the six gears cope fairly well with hills. Performance with all electric bikes will depend on the weight of the individual riding and my wife around 10 stone has always found hills easier than me (12.5 stone).A minor fault is an occasional cut off in motor power, usually when almost free wheeling. This is easily overcome by stopping pedalling for a few seconds. We always ride these in the pedal assisted mode though there is a throttle which is very useful for taking the strain whilst wheeling the bikes up horrendous hills or rough ground.Overall very good value for money for a first venture into the electric bike field!

not the best at all, but lighter than average
I bought it somewhere else, but people buying it should be aware that:1) You need to remove the battery to charge it [...]Yes, the makers didn't bother to implement some system to enable charging when on the bike. Which is at least -2 stars for me, why such inconvenience?? I haven't tried to charge it while it's on bike, but after reading manual, I wouldn't risk it.You can remove battery without lifting up the saddle like some other brands (at least if it is adjusted to full height - tall rider and if your lights are rubber strapped to the seat-post - easily moved), but still you need to remove it.. and move your lights out of way, if you have them.2) There is no way to switch the power off while cycling except to turn the key which is located on the battery. So you will always be power assisted, when you pedal. I have owned 3 different electric bike types and I found powacycle the worst ones in terms of everything to be honest.. On the other ones there would be a button to turn the power off, somewhere on the bars. Don't ask me why one would need to turn power off. It will only show me that you never really ridden an electric bike much.3) The throttle on both of my powacycles too sensitive, you will move the bike somewhere, rotate it a tiny bit and it will escape of your hands, trying to go somewhere. So for safety you better turn off the power of the throttle (which does NOT turn the pedal assist power off)4) The saddle heights of both of my powacycles rather low, you will either need to buy a replacement with longer stem, or will feel yourself on a baby bike and your legs will be hurting because of inconvenience. Both of my powacycles have squeeky brakes in front, which might be adjustable but would still be a pain to do.. Must say that 1 of my other types of e-bikes has same problem. There is no button to just keep the speed of the bike 15mph, you either need to hold the throttle all the time, or pedal.. 1 of my other bikes has the button which is huge convenience. The positive side is they are a bit lighter than competitors I would say.. comparing to other 2 types of e-bikes I got.All above said is comparison of 4 bikes (windsor and salisbury of powacycle and 2 other brands of similar value). So in short.. Make a research before buying, they all a bit different.. And this brand is definitly not the best for such big money.

Awful Company
I owned this electric bike for 3 weeks, two and a half of these it was in repair. The bike itself is fine and I had no trouble getting up hills and I did enjoy using it.The problem comes when you have to deal with the company itself. I spoke to them on a number of occasions, including the managing director, and every time they were very rude and uncaring. Their customer service is non-existent. I originally bought this bike from a bike shop, who were trying to deal with the problem and were getting nowhere with Powacycle. The bike shop had been waiting 3 weeks for a part for another powacycle that a man had bought recently, so it obviously wasn't just me who was experiencing difficulties. Since then, the bike shop have refused to deal anymore with Powacycle as they have been totally disgusted by their attitude and lack of customer service. I have now received a full refund for the bike and I will never buy from or recommend this company again.

Great Bike
I've had one of these bikes for 4 years and it has been excellent for my short journeys around the town. It works every day, not fast but steady. The electric motor takes the strain and hills are a doddle. As you would expect, it is fairly heavy and so I would think that it is probably not suitable as a long distance tourer.

The windsor is a fantastic electric bike
The windsor is a fantastic electric bike. We both bought electric bikes seven years ago, one was a windsor and the other, a famous make which cost twice as much as the windsor. I regretted buying my famous make and wished id bought a windsor as my charger and battery ran out while the windsor is still charging. So I have now purchased a windsor as it goes up the hills no problem and was much lighter then the other bike we bought. All in all for the price, the windsors are great value for both the confident cyclist and the nervous cyclist. We dont drive so use them daily for work and we do our shopping..... i recomnend the windsor, it's easy and reliable.
