The route is simply applied with a black tape or a black pen on a light background (e.g., white paper) with a width of 1-2 cm. The photodiodes applied to the bottom measure the brightness of the substrate. An LM393-type IC calculates how fast the two wheels must rotate due to the difference between the sensors. Thus, curves or circles can be traced without problems.
