Good, but defeated by really hard water
Expensive, so I'm a little disappointed that (in my hands at least) the de-calc system is not bomb-proof. I still get brown particulates coming through and staining my shirts, and as I'm then tempted to try to clean the system, I scald myself unscrewing the de-calc system plug (don't do this when the iron is on, and under pressure!!!). Around the steam holes on the base plate, there are a few holes near the top (pointy bit) that have brown carbonate deposits, which do occlude the hole and therefore the steam flow. Generally, this would be a great iron, but I should have invested in a hard water softener from the get go, as the water here in Oxfordshire seems to be too hard to allow the de-calc system to be entirely effective. This would get five stars if I was lucky enough to live in a soft water part of the country.Additionally, I agree with others who have commented on the very tight storage compartments for the flex and steam pipes: one year in and the electrical cable has pronounced kinks in it that at best make it even harder to store (and effectively shorter), and at worst could in future result in the flex becoming damaged: not there yet, but storage could be way better executed.EDIT: So about a year later and the iron is using noticably less water and generating noticably less steam. I am about to contact Phillips to see how I can remedy this (I presume that the working have finally become clogged with hard water deposits, sedpite the Anti-Calc system and the fact that I have religously being using Phillips 'hard water softener' water.

So advanced
Absolutely superb. Had a Philips steam iron for years and never a problem; still looking and working as the day I bought it. Felt like upgrading and now the ironing takes just a third of the time it used to. And I don't have to keep filling the iron. What's really amazing is I don't need to keep adjusting the heat for different materials. It seems to know just how much is needed. One other thing I noticed, all the clothes and sheets come out really crisp, like new. I have no idea how that works either but I'm pleased it does.

Ironing made simple
Researched steam generators over a period of time and decided that I would need as quieter one as possible so set my heart on purchasing this Philips model. So far it has come up trumps. Doesn't hiss and spit unreasonably - you can listen to music easily whilst ironing, have a conversation without shouting and above all grow to quite like ironing!! Absolutely amazed that you can go from ironing denim jeans to a silk nightie without fear of scorching. Using this iron has made ironing less of a chore. Well done Philips!

Someone who hated ironing
I actually like ironing now, my ironing has never looked so good so quickly. It took me quite a while to decide wether I wanted to spend that much money on this type of iron, glad i waited for this one, not having to worry about temperature sold it.
