Excellent Sabbath Compilation
This is a great Sabbath compilation. It focusses mainly on the Ozzy era and cherry picks the best tracks from each album he sang on. Shortly before buying this I listed the tracks I wanted for my own home made compilation and it was so similar to the track listing here that I never bothered, I bought this instead. I love 90% of the tracks and the rest aint bad either, I'm enjoying it so much that since buying I've played this over any individual Sabbath album.

Great vinyl both in material quality and finishing as well as music
Great compilation of Black Sabbath works that could well find its place on die hard (for those lazy Sunday listening sessions) as well as not so seasoned listeners (as a good collection of Black Sabbath works)

Fine but not Fantastic
Black Sabbath are not fine. They are fantastic. In my opinion they are the greatest band that have ever roamed the planet. They are colossal. Some of their songs are better than others as is the case with all bands but the idea of a 'best of' album is to collect the best songs and unite them on one offering. Do songs like 'The Wizard', 'Wicked World', 'Planet Caravan', 'Electric Funeral', 'Lord of this World', 'Am I Going Insane(Radio)', 'Never Say Die' and 'Hard Road' merit their place on a 'best of' opus ahead of 'Wheels of Confusion', 'After Forever', 'Neon Knights', 'Cornucopia', 'St. Vitus Dance', 'Under the Sun', 'Children of the Sea' and 'The Mob Rules'?The contribution Ronnie James Dio made to the band has not been adequately explored and the enormous influence that Vol.4 had on the band's reputation has barely been recognised. For me, a third of the songs on this album could have been replaced with better songs from Black Sabbath's incredible catalogue of headshakers. The Best of Black Sabbath should have been an indisputable 5 out of 5, but with so many classic omissions it doesn't quite get there. Make no mistake this is a very good CD, it just doesn't do true justice to the mighty legend of Black Sabbath.

Essential
Get this, Zeppelin's Remasters and Deepest Purple and youll be covering 90% of all that was great about 70s rock/blues/metal. This is the best Sabbath compilation, and could easily have ran to a third disc of equal quality.
