This is the 1977 WWII film directed by Larisa Shepitko, not the 1994 mountaineering film by the same title.

Made a good gift but I wish the resolution was higher

Reviewers said this was a great movie--maybe to them. This is not an action movie--more of a psychological movie about captured soviet soldiers. Maybe at the time I was looking for more action--did not think it was a great war movie.
