4-1/2 Stars
Damon Suede is my new favorite author for gay romance. It's interesting to note that most other authors of gay romance writers (that I've read anyway) are female. It shows too. Since Damon has "walked the walk" his characters are much more believable and are 3d, meaning that the female authors characters tend to be more 2d. This story had a lot to do with comics/special affect makeup/NY (where the author resides). I intend to read all of his book format stories rather than searching out other gay romance authors for the time being. His sex scenes are super hot, totally believable (in comparison to a female author - Damon has likely been there done that) and always get my cock bulging - for what it's worth.

Action Figures
I really enjoyed Damon Suede's "Bad Idea." It was a page-turner that kept me engrossed in the story, punctuated with some well-described romantic encounters. The characters were so real, not cardboard cutouts. Trip Spector was frustrating with his indecision that seemed to not fit his talent as an artist and his physical appeal. Silas Goolsby is the sweetheart of the book always leading with his heart and passion, thinking after the fact. Being an Alabama boy with a thick drawl also made his jump of the page for me. The Big Dog Comic chief Cliff was so sleazy. I found myself shouting at the book cover, "Don't touch me!" Kurt as the gaming company head was adorably callous and insensitive. Ziggy as the disabled acid-tongued tech genius also grabs you. The entire Stone family including Max who likes to dismember action figures seemed so specific that they were real. While it seemed to take forever for the lovers to reunite, I found myself having really enjoyed a story well told. Enjoy!

I had to do star math...
Hm. So. For this one I have to do star math. Not sure where we're gonna land.Plot: 3.5 stars, because more than half the plot is unusual and good and gorgeous, but parts were teeth-grindingly annoying and this is how I protest. Maybe there are people who learn a thing and instantly discard it to wallow and whine. Maybe two of them are in a relationship, the fools. These two do this thing more than once, and that's too many for me. Too plot-device-y.The characters: See, because of the plot, this is tough. But Silas is my favorite, so he gets 5 stars even so. Trip? I want to make him equal, but he is more of a putz. Way more. I don't care about reasons, he slacked big-time on the learning curve. 3 stars. So, mushed together and divided out, that's 4.The...tidbits. Messages, funny lines, the kid, the wisdom and the joy and the kindness, the loving couple and sharp friend and the man who loves him, all the bits and pieces that sent me up out of the book with a smile or a tear or a sigh, 10 stars. I don't care if that's too many. Ultimately, it's what I come out absolutely adoring about this story.3.5 + 4 + 10 = 17.5. Divided by 3 is more than 5. But now you know why, even though it annoyed me, it earned highest marks.

Love Love Love!
This book was my first by Damon Suede but surely not my last. Everything I could want in a story it had. It was sexy, emotional, smart, sensitive, funny. I thought the challenges both men faced were realistic and true to their characters. They may be my favorite romance couple to date and their relationship was just adorkable :) Trip's fear of sharing his art is also a rather deep topic and there was a lot of wisdom in this novel transcending its genre. Although I loved both characters and certainly understand Trip, I also wanted to smack him a few times, which just goes to show how well written he is! Silas has my heart though, what a sweetheart. In the end they are a great couple despite the fact that I wanted Trip to grovel a lot more, but perhaps that's the Scorpio in me.

Like a roller coaster!
This is the second novel I have read by Damon Suede, and I really enjoyed it! But be prepared, the two main characters will have your emotions going up, down, sideways and loop the loop. Trip Spector and Silas Goolsby are the main characters in this tale, and are as opposite as humanly possible. Trip is unsure of himself, questions any good fortune or happiness, and frequently sabotages his own success. On the other hand, Silas is outgoing, sexy, attractive with a wake of ex-lovers that stretches as far as the horizon. The planets must have aligned because they met at the most unlikely place, a mud run. However, once their eyes meet it is over for both of them, Cupid worked overtime. They do have in common that they are both very talented. It is their passion and talent (and sex) that brings them together, but it a tough road. Also, a great cast of supporting characters enrich the story.I want to compliment Mr. Suede on his attention to detail of the entertainment industry, particularly comic books, movies and gaming. It added an authenticity to the story. It was so thorough I thought this might be somewhat autobiographic about himself. Anyway, excellent read and I highly recommend it.

This is my least favourite so far but is still worth more than my ...
I have so far read Hot Head, Pent Up and Lickety Spit. This is my least favourite so far but is still worth more than my five star rating. The others are off the charts. These books all have parts with the power to disturb; which to me is the sign of really good writing. I really like this author, Very Sexy, perverse, willing to take risks. The only other book that I have read recently that affected me in this way was 'Call Me By Your Name'

Didn't make it through...
Sorry but I didn't make it through this book which was a shame. I persevered to 48% but gave out. It needs a serious edit and I've never before read such a disjointed book from Dreamspinner. By edit I dont mean the SPG, that was fine, but the flow was all over the place. It needs a content edit and re-issue as the story was great, the characters had potential and some of the writing was really good. It just didn't all fit together. The sex scenes were hot but even then a few times I was put off as it was hard to follow who was where or doing what.Could be a great book. Revisit it Dreamspinner!

awesome
An absolutely brilliant book - seemingly unpopular probably because it's so different to Hothead. But as far as I'm concerned that's the mark of a great author, rather than a soap opera script writer - which much of this genre seems sadly saddled with. Keep it up please DS - this is grown up erotica sliced with clever plotting and an individual voice. Loved it!
