Extremely well priced handy box with large variety of drawing tools
I recently started life drawing, and needed this. This box is by far the most reasonably priced art pack out there. The pencils and charcoal sticks come in a nice tin. There is one soft, one medium, and one hard charcoal pencil, one woodless charcoal pencil, two medium, one hard, and one soft charcoal block, and one pack of charcoal sticks. Really excellent variation. Only issue - the soft charcoal pencil breaks when sharpening, but nothing that can't be solved with a pen knife. The portable tin box is a nice finishing touch. Would highly recommend, and buy again as well!

Charcoal for the winnage
Charcoal is really just what you are always promised. It's messy and takes some kind of baby fingers super artist to even use these brittle sticks of wood burnings. They are not for every kind of artist not even myself. That being said the quality and versatility of this purchases is a great start kit for any aspiring artist because they have the pencils and the blunt sticks all vital towards sketch a work of art. There could be more versatility but it's a great basic start.

Good value
This seems a good introductory set for the money in my view, with various types of charcoals to try out. I don't know how it stacks up against more expensive professional brands but it suits my needs well enough and so I will be purchasing these sets again for my grandchildren.

Nice to use and work with..:-)
Product arrived after a slight delay but the seller was polite and prompt in all communication....The items are of excellent quality and were a pleasure to do my work with on both canvas and the other bases I often use to do my art with...Will recommend this product for many students or professional artists as a pleasure to use.

Not what I call charcoal
I suppose I am behind the times, but to me another reviewer's comment that 'charcoal is charcoal' hasn't proved true at all. I am used to what I see is now called 'vine charcoal', which can be nicely smudged into a mist with a finger or a cotton bud, or erased altogether with a soft cloth. These pencils and sticks are not at all like that. They make a very nice line drawing, with the ability to vary the thickness of the line etc, but they can't be seamlessly blended and can't be successfully rubbed out at all (not even with an eraser). OK, old-fashioned charcoal makes a bit of a mess, you need to take care, you need to clean your hands a lot, but that's the price you pay for what I think of as real charcoal drawing. I'm just saying all this in case anyone else is unenlightened like me. It's a lovely box and all that, but I can see that only the 'real' charcoal in it is going to get used much by me.
