A "Mad Men" Style Blast from the Past
My grandfather died with a full head of hair, and Brylcreem was the reason it always stayed in place and had a classy shine. I have a part in a play that's set in 1960 ("How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying"), so to look like a 1960 office working man, Brylcreem has been just the thing--not only to slick my hair down in a severe part, but to be able to quickly slick it backwards for my costume change.Brylcreem is malleable and stays in all day--it has no alcohol and is also part "leave-in conditioner". Coming out of the tube it feels like a skin cream, but going onto your hair it has a stiff texture to it that reminds me of styling putty. There is a masculine 'Dad's barber shop' smell to it, and I'm impressed because, as the slogan says, "A little dab'll do ya": a tiny bit really does go a long way.If you have short to medium hair, this stuff will make it sculptable, shiny, and slick-looking. It holds in place and yet give you the ability to play with it. True to tradition, I now keep a plastic comb in my pocket and a quick sweep with a few drops of water snaps any wind-ruffling right back into place. I'm fascinated something this old works this well even in today's era of millions of styling agents.

Brylcreem
I am new to the world of hair cream and pommades, I previously in all my years used hair-gel and hairspray or moose. I did not like the stiffness of my hair and didn't care much for the look. Honestly, till searching I never even heard of Brylcreem and looked at the reviews and decided to give it a try. My first experience was a learning one, I used too much and my hair looked and felt too greasy. Since then I have modified my amount to a level I love, and am very comfortable with. My hair (although have lost much of it through the years) has always been quite stylish as to a kind of light surfer dew. I get compliments since using this product on how cool my hair looks and in the past, and once again people say, "you look like that dude from 90210 Dillon". I will take that as a compliment. Thanks Brylcreem.

Sometimes, the old school stuff is better than the newer stuff
I never used this before, but knew of it. Decided to grow my hair out a little (like 2-3 inches long) and it was getting unruly. Tried some newer products but really didn't like the way my air felt or looked. I'm not a vain person, but I just don't like having a "hair helmet".My grandfather used this stuff, what the heck, gave it a try. The good news is, it really does what it is supposed to. The bad news is- The smell. It smells like a cross between real strong shaving cream and soap. Luckily, my wife doesn't mind it. I have gotten to the point where I can tolerate it.Just a dab will do ya is right. If you use to little, no hold or manageability. If you use too much, you look like a greaser. It's a fine line, but you figure it out pretty quick. If you want your hair to be shiny, this is the stuff. Remember to shower before bed and wash this stuff out. The more consecutive days you use it, the less you have to use for the same results because some stays in your hair even after washing. It is an oil/wax mix of some kind. If you use too much and it is summer time, you WILL have it migrate onto your face. If you are going out for a black tie affair, use twice as much as normal and enjoy the slick look.If they ever come out with an unscented version, I'm all over it.

Love the smell and texture
I pretty much hate the smell of every hygiene product. I wear the plainest deodorant and use the plainest soaps I can find. Hair products are the worst. Brylcreem has a really nice smell that is masculine and classic, but not in an overtly obnoxious way. I really like it and have gotten compliments on the smell from, umm, girls that have been in close proximity to it.It also gives my hair a nice texture- sleek, without being an oil slick, and you don't get product all built up in your hair. The only downside I would say is that when you first apply it, especially if you use a bit too much, it can be too shiny. It might take a half hour or some brushing to get it where you want it to be. Don't use a lot, a decent dab on your fingertip is plenty.

Not for thick hair; Virtually no hold... However, still a great product that might work well for some
I wanted to love Brylecreem; The history, the price, the value, the awesome scent… but sadly, this is not the haircare product for me. The phrase “just a dab will do ya” probably wasn’t taking into consideration those with hair on the thicker side.I usually style my hair in a slick back/vinttage style, and have found luck with many pomades, both old and new, but was looking for a product that was easier to apply. I will give credit where it is due, brylecream is incredibly easy to apply, and does not pull on your hair while styling, however, shortly after styling my hair the way I like it, the style comes undone. If it’s a windy day, forget about it; Your hair will be a mess. Now again, to give credit where its due, the smell of brylcreem is amazing. It reminds me a bit of barbasol shaving cream; There’s no denying that it features a clean and masculine scent. Also, although my hair does come undone very easily, Brylcreem does not dry out, and I can easily restyle my hair.To state that this product features a “light hold” is generous. There is virtually no hold to this hair cream. If this product had a medium or even strong hold, it’d easily be a 5 star product in my book.Maybe the product will work better when my hair gets a little longer. It is currently close to 5 inches, and I can imagine that the longer it gets the easier it is to style, especially with this product.
