LINDY 5m RJ-11 to RJ-45 Modem Data Cable, Black

Didn't suit my application this time but will use again in the future. Will add to my collection of useful cables.

I ordered this as I saw video on YouTube describing normal RJ11 cable supplied by Broadband providers as cheap and inefficient. Gentlemen was advising that cable built on RJ45 standard cable carries signal better and as Modem and Hub are always installed near the master socket, you do not need a long cable thus I decided to check if it makes a difference. I was also surprised to find that BT master socket can take RJ45 as well as RJ11. Advantage of RJ45 cable and plug is obviously better as it is a snug fit hence no loose cable no speed lose. He was showing cable he built himself based on RJ45 cable and put RJ45 plug on one end and RJ11 on the other end. He is no longer selling on eBay hence I looked around and found this cable.Now this cable is RJ11 TO RJ45 but they still using RJ11 cable instead of thick RJ45 cable hence it is not what I was looking for. It doesn't make any difference to Broadband connection at all.

The cable is short, so I went back to the product details on this site to purchase a longer 5m cable only to be met with minimum quantity 2. I decided to look elsewhere for the black rj45 to rj11 cable and found it on ebay for a really good price.

Purchased due to replacement of the faceplate of master socket to reduce interference to broadband signal/speed.The base plate purchased had a specific socket for the modem to connect to telephone line for broadband access, which required a RJ-45 socket. Did look for a shielded cable of the requirement that I required and did not find one, so purchased this cable.Order came next day as expected. Came packaged in a small re-sealable bag. Connected to modem router and base plate once fitted to the master socket. Worked a treat.

On change of my internet provider's wi-fi box, I struggled to find an adapter to convert my smaller new style BT cable socket to Ethernet; and here it is, the perfect solution, not an adapter, but a cable that does the job of both adapter and cable, all for under a fiver... Who'd have believed it these days when with modern equipment, you usually have to budget twice the amount to account for the cost of the cables! Very happy with this extremely cost efficient solution to my challenge.

This seemed to improve my internet speed when compared to the long length (10m) of poor quality cable I was using although more testing is required to prove this absolutely. I'd prefer it if it had been twisted rather than flat but whilst it does look like twisted cable in the image the description does clearly state that it is not.
