Great Present for Partner!!!
I brought this as a birthday present for my boyfriend who loves lego. He absolutely loved this book and can't wait to start ordering pieces to biuld one of these working guns (they fire lego pieces). There are five sets of instructuins for five different models of guns. It is well illustrated and even goes in to the mechanics of how they work.

Choose your weapon!
Badass Lego guns is exactly what it says on the tin a book that teaches you how to make the working guns you tried to make when you were 5 years old. It is every grown gadget fans dream, mixing Lego with Mindstorm motors/ Technic springs and elastic bands to make weapons that although not lethal pack a punch! The guide walks you through everything you will need to make your chosen weapon with a very clever contents list for every gun, it gives you the individual Lego codes you need and where to easily find cheap Lego pieces online, this is especially useful for some of the more rare pieces you may not have in your Lego arsenal, and would normally have to describe as a "springy thing with a tube in the middle" which sadly wont get you far on EBay.The guide also gives you hints on tips on how to make your own guns what design software it would be useful to download and how you can then view the design in 3d and check it will work. All the software it recommends is free and easy to find thanks to the precise links the book offers. The guns in the book are simply genius, I have made the first gun and am staggered at how simple and fun it was to build yet how clever and complex the firing mechanism is! The later models range in difficult up to a monster fully automatic assault rifle that looks incredible and will surely pack a punch! I can't wait to build it!The printing of the book itself is very good, and has been made especially so when the book is open it will lay flat to ensure that you can build the models without continuously loosing your page. The only slight negatives I have experienced are that some of the images are quite difficult to make out what part needs to be used where, but normally after a little while you can work it out. Secondly on the model I made the "bill of materials" was slightly incorrect, it did not effect building the gun and the gun was still fine without the parts that were not in the bill, however it did mean a second of the gun that was purely for looks I didn't have the parts to build. All in all a fantastic book for anyone who likes Lego has everything, or is a gadget lover!Enjoy!

Interesting book, but some designs use some older style bricks
Very interesting book, but geared to the use of older type Lego - many of the designs use old style bricks that are now no longer available.

Great book but be ready to spend a bit of cash if you don't have the parts. Common sense really.

Badass guns
I got this book from Amazon for Christmas, It shows you how to build four guns and a knife. It also lists the lego parts you need and gives tips on how and where to buy the bits that you may not have.I had to buy a lot of parts for the warbeast model which is the most complicated model in the book. The instructions in the book are quite easy to follow, but some times you have to look very closely to see how to assemble the different parts. I did find a couple of printing errors, but Martin the author wrote to me personally in order to sort them out. It took me about a day to build the biggest gun in the book from start to finish, and it really does work.I would recommend this book to anyone who likes lego. I have spent more time on this than any of my other Christmas presents.James , age 11

Fantastic!
I found this via a youtube link on the book of face. Have now purchased a couple of theae but yet to get one myself (xmas hint!) its well presented and the istructions look clear. I'll let you know how my brother in law gets on building the lilliput. He just purchased all the bits required via websites suggested by the book for £20 inc postage to give you an idea of what a gun cost to build. Off to write my xmas list now!

Banned....
Would love to build these, but trying to find the parts is taking too much time, so the build projects are on hold for now

For the child in all of us
I was always a fan of Lego, but never had the chance to play with many sets during my childhood. It's been about 20 years since I put together my last set, which was one of those small $10 sets that you give to a child for the holidays. I had never put together any modern sets that use the new Technic style pieces (though I have breezed through the building instructions for a few Technic sets), so I really wasn't sure what to expect when giving this book a try. But I figured, it's Lego...Lego is supposed to be fun, and this book further reinforces that idea.I really liked the detail of the book. The book features tips from the author on "Lego theory", the author's thought processes and a synopsis for each gun, a description of how the guns work, and step-by-step detailed diagrams to walk you through each model. In the front of the book is a "master" parts listing that gives the Part ID for each of the different pieces that all of the guns use. Each gun model has its own parts listing that gives the required quantities of each part. What became a time consuming process is looking at a gun's parts list, and then flipping back to the master list to find the Part ID. There were a few things that made this somewhat difficult: (1) while the master listing has a large variety of parts, it does not list every part used in every gun, and (2) a few of the part pictures were different between the master listing and the gun part listing. This wasn't a major inconvenience, as the book recommends a website to order from. The website allows you to search through a parts catalog, so if you see a part that can't be ID'ed correctly, the website becomes a nice reference. I think what would've been even better is if each gun part listing had the Part IDs listed as well. Though, I can understand why the author went with the master listing approach. As for the step-by-step diagrams, they are black and white photos that show which pieces are required for each step, and the end result of putting the pieces together. The diagrams are detailed to see where each piece fits in. For the most part, the diagrams were easy to follow, and it didn't take long to see where the next piece belonged. The step-by-step layout is similar to the one used in the modern Technic sets, so seasoned Lego veterans will have an easy time following each step. I put together the 1st gun in the book, which was ranked at a "beginner" level. It took me roughly 1-2 hours, which I was comfortable with. There wasn't a point where I finished a step and had to backtrack because I put it in wrong, so I was really happy about that. For the not-so-experienced Lego builder, the black and white photos may sometimes be difficult to navigate through. It really just requires patience, and some ingenuity to figure out how it all comes together. With regards to build quality, I can only speak on behalf of the 1st gun model in the book since it's the only one I've completed so far. With that said, I was very pleased with how the gun turned out. It looks just like the picture, and the gun feels solid. The moving parts move smoothly, and the mechanisms work as they should. Shooting the gun is also a breeze - it works as a gun should, just pull the trigger and fire away.Final thoughts: I personally highly recommend this book to adults that still enjoy toys. As an adult that enjoys putting together anything that requires assembly, I thoroughly enjoyed the assembly process of the 1st gun in the book. The fun with Lego is in building models that amaze you, and this book does exactly that. The author put loads of effort into the design, creation, and documentation of each model, and it's nothing short of extraordinary. As for children, I don't recommend it to children under 10 years old, as the models come out quite large (the 1st gun in the book fits my hands perfectly). If the book is intended for a child, I recommend adult supervision (to help with building the models correctly, and to make sure they don't fire the guns in an unsafe manner, as they do shoot pretty hard). I'm really looking forward to building the rest of the models in the book, and definitely await the (hopefully) next book that this author publishes on Lego.
