Awesome set, kind of difficult build for kids, but fun once you get it together.
I bought this for the kids and I to build to together and ended up building the whole thing myself because it was kind of a tough build for the kids to follow. That was okay because I personally love building things. First note is it's very big, and for that reason, I like that it stands up tall because it takes up less floor space that way. After we got it together, we turned it on, and the cart moves FAST, way faster than I was expecting. My 6-year-old son was amazed and yelled "Whoa!!! Whoa!!! How are we going to turn this thing off?!?!" haha. Luckily, the cart is really light so it doesn't hurt when you stick a hand in front of it to stop it. You can also easily move the coaster from standing straight up to horizontal without having to change anything, which was a pleasant surprise. It was a hit with the family.

How can you possibly sell this complex toy for only $19.87?
I can't say how long the motor, battery, and propeller will last, but I can say that this is a fantastic toy for the price, if it last a while.I am a retired aerospace structures research and development engineer, with 32 patents.First, KNEX has really figured out the plastic toughness chemistry. I have 30 year old KNEX sets which are still like new. Most plastic toys degrade quickly, but not KNEX. Congratulations to your chemists!I noticed on the box that 98% of the parts are made in the USA, the car comes from China, and the parts sorting is done in the Dominican Republic. My question is: How in the world, how in this universe, can you buy the materials, make the injection molded track and structure parts, make the car in China, ship all the parts to the Dominican Republic, assemble kits (by hand I suppose?), ship them to distributions centers, and then have Amazon ship a kit to my front door, for the incredibly low price of $19.87, and have everyone in that chain make a profit??? Did Amazon make a mistake on the price? Are you somehow subsidized by the US Government? It really boggles my mind! I am mind-boggled! I can see putting a man on the moon for 288 billion dollars, I comprehend that. But I can't see how you can design, build, and ship this toy to me for $19.87. I just don't get it.

Cool but room to improve
Overall really cool with a couple things that could be improved. The sound the car makes is much louder than I expected and can get annoying fast. The instructions I would give a C+. They can be hard to understand during crucial points. I am used to Lego's instructions. Which I feel no one does as good as them, but knex can definitely improve. Lastly the track is glow in the dark as advertised, but with the speed of the car it tends to disconnect from the frame at certain points where the pieces don't connect as strongly as I think they should. I did get this on sale. For the price I paid I would buy it again, but for full price I would not

Very good STEM toy
My 5-year old son spent days working on this toy and was elated with the action of of the coaster when he finished it. Very good STEM toy. Only (small) complaint is that the track connections (small yellow pieces) don’t hold tight enough while the car is racing around. So the track detaches from the main structure due to the force of the fast moving car. But trouble shooting that is good for the kids too!

Bought this as a Christmas present for my 12 year old. He loved it. Instructions were easy to follow and it took less then an hour to put it together. He loves showing it to everyone. Great gift for kids who like to assemble things!

Don't get this unless you have a computer or smartphone.
I honestly love k'nex so when my mom bought this for her grandson and I to put together I was so happy. He got it for Christmas and I went to assemble it for him today. Start putting it together and then run into a huge problem. The book is missing so many pages that it is impossible to put together without getting on a computer or cell and downloading the pdf from the website. The instructions skip from page 6 to page 13 and then 18 to 13 then 24 to 19 then 24 to 31. Luckily the child it was bought for is 5 and has trouble doing stuff like this so I was able to build it using my computer for the instruction booklet. So overall I love this build but it isn't gift able unless the person has a computer or smartphone to look in instructions. I doubt k'nex can do anything about this at this point but still.Edit: After contacting customer service they sent me out a new book that is properly numbered. It came in the mail today 2/16/21 much to my surprise because I never saw the email about it. I'm glad it was fixed and now the little one can try to put this together with his big sister!

Grandson and his Dad spent a day assembling, and when they finished the unit was wild. Lots of sound and unbelievable speed. It was hard to keep up with the little vehicle. It provided quality time for the two and the unit was exactly as advertised. WILD!
