Fantastic read!
I'm not finished the book yet, but I am so enjoying reading it - and I'm not even really a Stones fan. Such a wonderful guy.

The essential Charlie wants...the enigma, the man, the success
Essential reading on the immitiable Charlie "Boom Boom" Watts, the Wembley Whammer. This incredible book doesn't waste time repeating from other Rolling Stone aurobios and bios, instead carving out room for all things distinctly Charlie and it's a much better book bc of it. I was a little surprised at the brevity of the 60's that were covered, but when I caught on that here are Charlie facts and deeply personal interviews that you won't find anywhere else, the treasure revealed itself. My only wish was there was more info about his days learning the sax since by his own admission, he was probably too lazy to learn another instrument other than drums. So what is in this book? Lifelong friendships, multiple bands that will have you wanting to listen to them all, tender confessions from his granddaughter Charlotte about life on tour, worries from Mick Jagger that despite many urgings, Charlie would just about forget to eat, the fact that Saville Row designed a shirt just for his drumming, that he was easily frustrated by flirty Lisa Fisher playing around, hated showing himself sweat, the sketchbook in which he drew 60 years of hotel rooms, Charlie's ode to Charlie Parker, the fact that if he couldn't do what he did he wished he could've been an 18th century lord or a butler, that he loved dogs (he had 18) over people, his battle with cancer, his deep devotion to both his home and stage families, his irreplaceable sense of timing, the fact that he collected cars, had outfits made to match them and didn't drive in his life, that he was a tremendously loyal, sensitive and thoughtful down to the minutia kind of gift giver, often for no reason at all (for instance, bronze age swords, collie puppies, super rare musical announcements with even more special loan details on it. There's just too much to mention. Hidden troves to buy collectable records, the most elite bookstore he replied on in London...Most of all it showed you how well and deeply loved he was and how he to enjoy what he did till the end of his life.l, in anunassuming manner that was painfully honest. He was such a great person you'd like to thank him for simply, wonderfully being.

Capa rasgada
Não gostei de ver o livro com a capa rasgada, apesar de o ter comprado como novo. Gostaria de ser reembolsado em parte pelo estrago da capa ou na totalidade e devolvo o artigo.
