This is how you fit a BU40N ultra slim optical drive in your PC case
This product is well-made, well-engineered and just works. I'm using this to fit a BU40N ultra slim disc drive in a standard 5.25" bay in my PC case. The ODD bay is built in such a way that the optical drive slides in from the front into grooves in the adapter. It is a very snug fit. You then put just one screw into the side of the drive to secure it in the adapter. You could probably get away with not even using the screw b/c of the tight fit. But I put it in anyway for insurance. As a bonus, it will also house a standard 3.5" spinning rust hard drive. Can't remember if it also has the mounting holes for a 2.5" SSD, but it would be easy enough to drill holes or just use Velcro to hold the drive in.Can't say enough good things about this product.

Works but I would rather have a device with a backplane.
For the price it works well. If I had more money I would buy one with a backplane. The cables put some stress on the SSD.

Exactly What I Wanted
I'm building an ITX PC with only a single 5.25" bay.To make the absolute best use of this bay for how I use my computer, I realized that I wanted to fit both an optical drive and a memory card reader. This dock, a superslim* CD drive, and a 3.5" card reader, were exactly what the doctor ordered.> The front of the adapter has a horizontal faux-brushed finish.> The box includes ALL the hardware you could possibly want to install a 3.5" hard drive, floppy drive (?!), or accessory into the lower bay, and a superslim optical drive in the upper bay. The screws to install it into your PC are self-tapping, and will require a bit of effort to fully secure. The screw packets are conveniently labeled. It also includes a well-made adapter to connect your slimline ODD to a normal SATA power port. The experience of assembling the product was painless and enjoyable.> There are blanking plates molded out of the plastic in an admirably cost-effective fashion. The 3.5" blanking plate is molded into the plastic between the ODD bay and the 3.5" bay, and inserts into a slot in the base of the ODD bay. It is recessed a bit from the face of the adapter. You can snap it out if you need it, or leave it in there if you don't. It doesn't interfere with installing any parts. The ODD blanking plate is molded onto an extension off the back of the adapter. It inserts from the top, and is flush with the face, with a "disc" faux branding on it. You MAY want to snap it off for appearance, if your case has a window that allows the interior of the adapter to be seen easily. Both blanking plates have a brushed-grain appearance that matches the face of the adapter.*> The Optical bay requires a superslim 9.5mm drive. A "fat" 12.7mm conventional slim drive won't fit. The 9.5mm drive was a bit of a squeeze!

Awesome Quality
Looks a bit odd with the staggered offset (makes cable management easier) but, really well designed and sturdy product, even bought a second one!

Whats 5.25 bay :)
Works well, I would like to see the block off plates for the ODD and 3.5" are break away parts. ODD block off hangs off back side causing very tiny interference with connections to slim ODD and could be broken off quite easy (it's supposed to be easy to get off however). Just a nit-pick because it would be easy to misplace once removed.

Great HDD ODD Bay
Good quality; as described. They did not have to include the slim SATA adapter, but they did!I would for sure buy from them again.

Pretty decent product at a really good price.
Pros: Fit an SSD like I needed it to. Went into the slot on the Dell pre-built tower like I needed it to. Room for another SSD and a 3.5" drive. Price is right.Cons: As others have said, its plastic. Not a con in itself, but the it does feel flimsy and cheap. But if you want better quality, you're gonna pay more for it. The front slot cover just slides in and isn't retained in position. It can easily fall out of place. One of the mounting holes was a bit off, I'm afraid if I should have to remove it from the drive cage its attached to that hole might be stripped, but for now everything is good. Once installed, it wasn't quite flush with the rest of the front case. That's not a problem for me, and maybe the design of the case is the problem.Overall: I was looking for something cheap to use in an older Dell machine that is my plex server. It will serve that purpose well. That said, if I were to need something for my main rig, or something that needed to be a bit sturdier or prettier, I'd look to spend a bit more money.1 star off for the loose slot cover design. 1 star off for the mounting holes and "flush-ness" of the design.
