They may not have bones but they have SO much more!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book. Not only does it have the most amazing illustrations by Italian artist Andrea Antinori but the way in which the author, Anne Richardson crafted this cool counting book is so CREATIVE! I've never seen anything like it. It's perfect for classrooms, school libraries, and science museums. The heavy focus on science and math along with the sophisticated visuals makes it congruent with STEAM/STEM learning. Exploding with facts that celebrate the numbers zero to nine and power of ten numbers ten to nine billion. TEACHERS, LIBRARIANS and PARENTS: Run, don't walk to buy this one because it's going to sell like hotcakes.

Good Science Starts With Good Statistics!
This book appears, somewhat deceptively, like a simple colorful picture book about the numbers from 0 to 9 but it is so much more. It gets children thinking about powers of ten and sample sizes and methods of choosing sample sizes, and average numbers of common things in nature. It will have adults sounding out words like new readers(Tillandsia and epiphytic appear before you're out of the zeros!) and trying to remember all those root words they learned for the SAT tests all those years ago. Be prepared to look, really look, at the natural world around you and ask why and how, and of course, how many. Prepare yourself with a good dictionary, science notebooks, calculators and books about everything, and be prepared to be led to the woods, to the interior of cells and to the cosmos. We need scientist in the future who can think clearly, inside and outside the box, understand statistics and how scientists use them, and who think carefully about how we know what we know. It starts with observing, making theories and testing them. We are all scientists at heart. So let's count!

Book reviews were accurate
We do math all the time with our great grand kids. Most recently we have been trying to figure out how many zeros there are in a million, trillion, billion and beyond. This was the perfect gift for our 7 year old. The pages have a fair amount of space to write your own questions and comments to stimulate discussion while reading it. What was really fun was to address infinity! We also calculated the number of zeros traveling to the moon and back because we always “I love you to the moon and back plus infinity”. There are great facts in the book that you can return to anytime and will have different meaning as he gets older.

10/10 Highly Recommend! Great Counting Book for All.
As a life long early education professional I predict that Octopuses 🐙 Have Zero Bones will certainly be the next favorite counting book for both early learners and teachers alike! The author, Anne Richardson has the art of pulling you into land, sea, space and your body in a very fun, funny and fullof wonder type of way!You will explore with your young one places, spaces and so much more simply with just counting. How amazing it is to learn about the deepest part of the Pacific, to how high a giant Sequoia tree inside of Yosemite Nat’l Park is, to how many stars there are in the galaxy to how many cells we have in our bodies and so much more- simply incredible!!!The wonderment of the world that we live in can be seen when reading this with any young learner and even a young at heart learner. This counting book will facilitate discussions about the world around yourself and your young child.I highly recommend this book and just as Anne Richardson suggests, go out and discover, count, explore and be astonished.Gift this book to an expecting mother & her family, your child’s school library or a local shelter.
